Winner a conference title is an honor and they should take the trophy.
There are teams like the LEAFS! who have never won a conference trophy.

I've picked against Vegas every series and I've been wrong every time. I really thought Winnipeg would take them out. What the hell do I know. Good on 'em.

Fleury gets a chance to three-peat as Champion, and this year he'll actually get to play in the Final.

Yeah, but they've overcome something way, way more outlandish than touching a trophy. They could probably piss in the trophy at this point and it wouldn't matter.

Golden Knights gonna win the Finals no matter if they touch this Conference Finals cup or not. The curse will finally end for the Western Finals for touching that cup.

I think it’s awesome. It shows all this garbage around “it takes time”; “it’s a process”; “we’re growing” - means nothing. There’s a huge amount of luck involved in making it to the finals.
It also makes me think NHL GMs are seriously over-rated.

I’m not sure the individual performance let alone team result would have been the same. Sure feels like any goalie they plug in would have success, similar to the salt art of the season

Not likely. Hockey movies aren't much of a thing outside the Mighty Ducks series, but that was more fun and aimed at kids. An amazing hockey story won't register with the bulk of people.
I guess Miracle is an example of how it could work, but I still don't see it as that was more an Olympic and American nationalism story which is sellable as more than just hockey.

When they interviewed him during the season on CBC he said he was sure he was going to Calgary.
They probably wanted a lot more than Arizona wanted for Smith. Another mistake by management? Who knows?

Lets also not pretend that these playoffs aren't a huge outlier for Fleury's career. I'm happy for the guy, he seems like a sweel chap, but we shouldn't rewrite history.
He's motivated by shoulder chip.

I don't think it matters to who the Vegas Knights play in the east. Tampa is the smallest team in the playoff and the Caps is likely right behind the Jets in size. The eastern teams are slower than most of the western teams in the playoffs. I think the Knights might sweep the finals, but I'll call it in 5.

The Flames would have ruined MAF!

Had an idea!
|
So were the Jets gassed, or did they simply starting playing the style of hockey they played last year? Because it looked to me a lot like the one man shows they had last year. Everyone trying to do everything themselves.
Laine, Conner, Statsny, Ehlers....all invisible. Conner was maybe the worst Jets forward all series long.

Looked like they were gassed. They really needed to win Game 3 and once MAF stood on his head it seemed to take the wind out of them.

Gallant has all the players on the same page... a far cry from the days of "TaxiGate"...

I remember that... i also remember MAF saying he would have waived his NTC to go to calgary if the deal was consummated (this was during the all star game i believe)...
Rumor was Pens wanting a first, but i think Calgary's 1st rounder was the Tkachuk year, so they weren't going to give that up... now maybe it would have been different if it was a pick in the late teens/early 20s...?

I didn't watch this game, but what I saw from the series was that they got easily frustrated by the constant pressure from Vegas
