Wicked far exceeded my expectations, and I'd given up trying to moderate my expectations. I can't remember the last time I had that much fun in a movie.
If you're a theatre kid or a theatre kid wannabe, this movie does not disappoint.
So...if you're not a Theatre kid then perhaps one should attend this film armed with a Tazer?

Okay - I saw Terrifier 3 and it was my introduction to the series (I'm pickier with movies these days, so to see if it was worth the time I went with the one with the biggest budget behind it)
It was a mix of disgusting, funny, gratuitous and (somehow) endearing. Campy and reminiscent of 80s horrors with the VFX.
In many ways it hits the notes that I hoped IT would.
The clown actually acts like a clown, which is great. That he plays games with his victims before unleashing carnage in an unpredictable way adds a lot of fun to it.
I've never thought of "gore" humour as a thing, but this movie showed that it's possible, at least for a seasoned horror fan.
I'll be checking out the earlier films now.

I thought Wicked was great as well, loved some of the creative choreography and production design, and solid performances all around. Runs a little bit long but I found the time went by fast.
We then watched Transformers One at home with the boys and it was pretty good too. Some dumb dialogue here and there to cater to the 10-year old boy audience but the story was decent, great animation, and some really solid animated action scenes. Most I've enjoyed a Transformers movie in years.

Transformers One was better than any of the live-action films they have made (except for maybe Bumblebee). They did an origin story well.

Hot take: The first Bay Transformers film is one of the best action films of the last 25 years. It's fantastic, when Optimus Prime is giving his ending speech and then Linkin Park hits, that's cinema

I stopped watching when Shia showed up and it sounds like it only got worse.
Gladiator II sucked ass. Mostly because they reshot Gladiator except instead of a Russell Crowe level movie star they cast a nobody who couldn’t act in the lead.
He was supposed to be filled with rage. Instead he seemed filled with… fatigue?
Denzel was good playing modern Denzel in ancient Rome though.
Just got home from it. Absolutely terrible. First of all, go away Denzel. You're the same guy in everything...a boring guy who bloveates his dumb-ass lines with a dumb-ass smirk and bizarre/awkward cadence. It's fkn annoying to watch.
Second, what terrible writing. I'm going to start writing movies because they're all the worst - I can't help but accidentally write a better one. The speeches to amp up the NPCs were so dumb. Do the people writing and directing this bs not know how humans talk? Everything out of everyone's mouth was ridiculous.
Finally, the 'bad guys' were so dumb and ridiculous. It's like they made strawmen bad guys that were so unclever just so the barely smarter good guys could win. Sorry, though, everyone was dumb.
-10/100
Oh yeah, and the main character was a giant forgettable nothing.
Also, no hot chicks at all, but lots of c0ck statues if that's your thing.

I invite you to revisit the life decisions that led you to this statement.
Finally got around to watching Furiosa, and it's fantastic. Chris Hemsworth absolutely dominates the screen anytime he's shown, I've never seen him act at that level before. Maybe it's because he was finally allowed to go full unrestrained Aussie, but that's my favorite performance of the last few years. No qualms with ATJ as Furiosa either, but with how internal that character is there's not much she could have done to make herself stand out more. It was great to see the Fury Road world fleshed out more, hopefully George Miller is able to pump out at least one more movie before he kicks the bucket

Holy #### someone who feels the same way about Denzel as I do! I feel like I've been taking crazy pills with the reaction I get when I say that.
He's fallen into that same trap that long term actors do when they stop transforming themselves into roles and just recycle the same character that's made them popular in the past.
Watched Smile 1 and Smile 2 over the weekend. Honestly to god, some of the best horror films I've seen in a long time. Genuinely creepy and uncomfortable. Much of the films are non-stop crescendos for long periods of time. Really enjoyed them, although both endings were kind of meh. But the rest made up for it. Both actually reminded me of The Substance, that body-horror style with some really good sound quality.

Pretty much agree, the worst example is Liam Neeson. After those garbage Taken movies he took on extremely low level action crap, he sucks now.

Maybe this is a bit of a hot take, but I never really thought Denzel was all that great to begin with. Always seem to have kind of limited range and was always on the verge of over-acting.
Denzel has actually done his best to take on non-uniform roles, including returning to theatre. He just is what he is.

The first Transformers would have been an okay movie if Michael Bay didn't do what he always does; think his movies need some humour or some action scenes and then just continue them waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy too long. It's painful and it's in every single movie he does.

I think we were all relatively okay with Bayformers 1 just for the novelty of the whole thing and it was a little more restrained. From the second onwards it really goes down hill and just gets worse and worse.

Yes, but the stumbling around the yard, Bernie Mac screaming at his grandma, the attack on Scorponok where Tyrese shouts "Left Cheek" 3 times.... ugh show some restraint.
Got around to watching a little indie flick called There Will Be Blood. Suppose there was a bit of hype around it back when it came out. The first 3/4s were pretty great but the ending wasn't particularly satisfying or well written IMO. Wrapped up far too quickly for my liking and felt very tonally different than the rest of the film. I know it was a long film but that third act really needed another 15 minutes or so to get it right. Still pretty good though, beautifully shot.
