Wicked was probably a half hour too long. To much sweeping cinematography shots making every scene longer than it needed. The first act is 90 minutes in the theater. This was 160.
But overall enjoyable and elphaba made good emotional connections. Delivered essentially what was promised. Also for a part 1/part 2 where the act split is works really well.

I really enjoyed Wicked. Agree that it might be a touch too long but not egregiously so.
The cinematography and acting were excellent. I guess I'm turning into a musical guy. Never would have thought that in a million years.

Don't understand the appeal. The theatre musical iteration would be slightly more appealing due to runtime and live talent. But it's only something I'd attend if I were chaperoning a girls birthday party or for a special date night.
Gladiator comes out and most grown men went to Wicked. All I can say is I sincerely hope it was against their will.

As it is Thanksgiving in the states, I will be watching The Last Waltz at some point between the football games. Celebrating the greatest Canadian band of all time, the film shows The Bands last performance with the original members. Watch it for the 70s nostalgia, Neil Youngs cocaine booger, Levon Helm performing a song as great as any live performance, Allen Toussaint's incredible horn arrangements, and just some of the biggest names of the era coming together.
And make sure you play it loud.

Never really thought about that....that's a lot of family time and turkey crammed into less a month's time.

Woman of the Hour was a great debut for Kendrick. A number of scenes, or rather the vast majority of the entire movie, did an excellent job of delivering unease.
We Live in Time. Exactly what I expected. Excellent performance by Pugh and Garfield. The movie is built for those two, and they carry it the way they needed to.
Really enjoyed watching two new movies in one night, and having both absolutely deliver.

Not to mention passive aggressive guilt for not being able to travel cross-country for one or the other or both.

Wicked far exceeded my expectations, and I'd given up trying to moderate my expectations. I can't remember the last time I had that much fun in a movie.
If you're a theatre kid or a theatre kid wannabe, this movie does not disappoint.

I thought the first two hours of Wicked were boring and bad with highly unlikeable characters.
Then Jeff Goldblum showed up and the last 40 min were great for something that is half a movie.
So I have notes. There is a good 90 min movie in there.

Gladiator II sucked ass. Mostly because they reshot Gladiator except instead of a Russell Crowe level movie star they cast a nobody who couldn’t act in the lead.
He was supposed to be filled with rage. Instead he seemed filled with… fatigue?
Denzel was good playing modern Denzel in ancient Rome though.

Is there a 3 hour movie that flies by as fast as Amadeus? Five stars.

Modern Denzel fits any time period.
