Edit: it’s been brought to my attention that it’s not a bison but a lion. I’m changing my answer from cozens to Amon-Ra St.Brown. This guy has tons of speed . Skating coach has lots of work to do.

There would be lots of offers for him as a rental.

And why would Calgary give up even what would be considered cheap assets to get a rental?

I’d question why Buffalo would want Andersson. Their current season is sunk. Andersson then heads into his pending UFA year, and the situation there is still pretty grim. Can’t imagine Andersson looks at that situation and much, if anything at all appealing.

If Andersson was 25 and had three-four years left on his deal, sure, all day long. But his age and contract would not give me any level of comfort if I were Buffalo.

Also, it’s going to take a lot more than Andersson to get the ship pointed in the right direction.

Rantanen would be seen as a blunder potentially. The blunder could be completely out of the public realm or that a GM is giving up on someone they shouldn't in general.

Maybe McTavish? Not totally out of left field as he has been discussed but not too recently as a potential young centre that could be traded. Fits as a mishandling from a team with his coach making comments about him earlier this season.
