I also think Ray's mobility in the pocket is underrated. How many Stamps did he make miss last night? He's not a runner but has a great feel for pressure
|
I saw a lot of Stamps take horrible lines and miss easy tackles on him. Not sure how many he made miss. Perhaps he did more of that in the second half though and I just missed it.

He did avoid a couple but there was some pathetic tackling going on by the defense all game long. In position to take down Ray they would inexplicably miss him. Glenn doing his hip-hop impression in comparison also made Ray look good.
It was a choke job. But not that we haven't seen that from this team or the one that plays on ice many, many times. It's par for the course actually for a Calgary franchise. I'm always surprised more than anything else when they actually perform well in a big game.

In my opinion it was both. Ray made guys miss and Stamps forgot how to properly close angles happened at various points

Peice of scum Belli attempted to break John Gott's arm. As mentioned, TSN found nothing from any of their 12 cameras.
Argonauts defensive tackle Adriano Belli did not rip off the head of Stampeders’ quarterback Kevin Glenn like he threatened to earlier in the week. But he did step over the line in Sunday’s Grey Cup.
Belli, who came out of retirement in October to try and help his hometown team win the Grey Cup, was tossed out of the game in the third quarter during for unnecessary roughness, for trying to injury Calgary offensive lineman Jon Gott. Asked if he attempted to break Gott’s arm, as suggested earlier, Belli replied: “Never. Does that sound like me?”
He was being sarcastic, but whether his infraction was intentional or not, the Toronto native wasn’t apologizing afterwards.
“You know what? It’s not two-hand touch,” he said. “You bring in a guard dog? You gotta let him bite people.”
Belli said he spent the fourth quarter inside the Argos dressing room “drinking beer and eating pizza.” He called winning the Grey Cup at home “amazing” despite being tossed.
“Since I’m going to retire, I don’t think the coaches can flip out any longer. I’ve driven them crazy enough over the years,” Belli said.
“This is so fitting,” he added. “Hometown boy, Toronto, 100th Grey Cup. Finish my career here. Typical getting kicked out with my rap sheet over the years ... I couldn’t be happier.”

Disgrace to himself, the Argos (for bringing him back) and the league for those dispecible actions, and for those comments shrugging off the fact that he has no regrets hours later about blatantly trying to break someone's arm.
Covering up his average skills and abilities over the years by using a creepy "kissing" schtick over the years and by being a media quote machine.
Good riddence.

I certainly didn't expect the Stamps to go 12-6 this season and make it to the Grey Cup, especially when Tate went out long term in week 2........but despite my preseason lowered expectations, it sure was a disappointing performance to witness in the Grey Cup.
Especially considering Ricky Ray got the best of us again, and ultimately Chris Jones got the last laugh after his dispicable, tampering induced off-season move to TO.
In the end, the Stamps have a fairly young roster, and hopefully they can grow from this disappointment, move forward with Tate/Mitchell, and put together a long, long stretch of being a dominant football power in the West.

True, but Tate will get the first opportunity to lead this team until he gets hurt again.

Glenn and the Oline as a whole were a huge disappointment the entire game. The Oline could not pass protect or run block the entire game. Dickinson was badly out coached vs that traitor Jones.
Glenn did not give his receivers enough chances to even come close to accomplishing anything of substance.
I was done with hoping the Stamps had a chance when Bolton got blasted in the face with his helmet off and the refs just ignored it, blatantly ignored it.
The 105 yard TD be called back on a extremely weak holding call was a joke.
That could have changed momentum in the game in a big way and the ref knew it. Those plays are game changers and always have been, so they took it away.
You could see most downs the Argo O line getting hands in face masks of DT & DE consistently.
The Argos as whole seemed intent to injure Stamps during play and after whistle and the refs allowed it to happen.
With that said this was on of the worst games the Stamps played and coached this season.
Glenn really killed and stalled any momentum that was gained during the game.

Does anybody have the video replay on the Keon Raymond's holding call on Larry Taylor's TD return. I was so ticked off after i heard the announcer saying there was a penalty and it will definitely coming back, i bolted out of the room and didn't even watch the replay.

Entire game is archived here: http://watch.tsn.ca/cfl-games-on-dem...nto-argonauts/
Play is at 24:45. I'm not a ref, but when you're blocking at the point of attack, they're going to be watching you closely. I think the problem here is that the Argo defender fell down, combined with Raymond grabbing onto the jersey with his right hand. That's all the ref on the sideline (who threw the flag) would have seen. Tough one to call; I think it could have been a non-call just as easily. The crappy part is that Raymond didn't even need to do it

I actually don't think it was too much a fault of the o-line but rather the play calling. The proper plays wern't called and the defense always came out with a play that fazed Glenn since he couldn't sit back for too long.
Bad quarterbacking, and moreso bad play calling made this a fairly bad game entertainment wise. Not much of a battle.

The 100th GREY CUP scored big on – and off – the field last night, as the country united to watch one of the biggest sporting events in Canadian history on TSN and RDS.
Preliminary overnight data from BBM Canada confirms that the 100th GREY CUP delivered an average audience of 5.5 million viewers on TSN, making it the most-watched CFL championship game ever recorded on English-language television.*

Obviously having the Argos in the game had a huge part in those numbers by bringing in that market...wonder how many of those can be attributed to the Bieber factor though? I would wager its not inconsequential.

Those numbers are good for TSN. Wonder if it would've been a couple million more if it was on CTV?

I think because Argos won they will talk about it whether he wants to or the guest forces him into it. If Calgary had won it would have been mentioned in passing and on the roundtable and that is it.
And yes I listen to it on podcasts which makes it easier to listen and skip some of the boring parts. I know the show is a huge homer broadcast for the Jays and Raptors but sometimes that is half the fun in listening to the ridiculous excuses/projections for those teams.
|
On Monday's show they hardly talked about the Grey Cup. They did a bit with Tim and Sid but there were no CFL guests at all!
The Grey Cup victory is already forgotten in Toronto. They'll be back to drawing 5000 fans next year.

I actually think you'll see a lot of people out at the parade in Toronto today. To be fair, the Argos have been a horribly run franchise for quite some time, things got dark at McMahon during those years to. Only difference is in Toronto there are a ton of other options, where in Calgary it's either the Stampeders or Flames.

True, how far is it from toronto to buffalo again? I wonder if Calgary had an NFL team that close what we would do?
