Two of the guys here got texts from their carriers stating they were at their limits. One said he thought it was a podcast app constantly trying to download podcasts?

Yep, this is the case for me (iPhone 5, iOS 6, but no iTunes match or podcasts or anything like that). It's not a ridiculously high amount of data and is still well within my 6 GB/month, but there's still quite a discrepancy.

The Bell guy upthread who said the phone should be using data over wifi is full of crap.

That's just what the guy told me. I told him that doesn't make any sense, to which he replied "that's he way it is"

I've been turning off cell data regardless and will be needing to check the data usage when I get the chance.

Is it possible that your LTE connection is faster than your wifi speeds, and the phone is choosing the better connection? I know it annoys me with my unlimited plan that my phone insists I get on WiFi to download some large game file or whatever, considering that LTE can be faster than my home internet connection.

Most small cameras, including those in every generation of iPhone, may exhibit some form of flare at the edge of the frame when capturing an image with out-of-scene light sources. This can happen when a light source is positioned at an angle (usually just outside the field of view) so that it causes a reflection off the surfaces inside the camera module and onto the camera sensor. Moving the camera slightly to change the position at which the bright light is entering the lens, or shielding the lens with your hand, should minimize or eliminate the effect.”

These pictures aren't taken from the same location and/or angle. iPhone 4 has a rooftop and is missing the road.

It appears the 4 picture is framed slightly higher. I think if you're focusing on that you're missing the point completely though.

Maybe so. I probably should pay more attention in class.

I've read that they removed the IR filter and that's causing the extra flare. All in the name of making the phone that much thinner. I guess if you're going to be taking a lot of shots looking directly into the sun the iPhone 5 isn't the phone for you.

Yeah, taking pictures outdoors on a nice day is so overrated.

Read my post again. I acknowledged that the iPhone has an issue, and that if that's a problem for you don't buy the phone, not that you ever would anyway.

Personally I wish Apple had kept the filter on even if it made the phone thicker. But I've never had this flare happen yet anyway. And 99% of photos shot "outdoors on a nice day" won't be affected by this issue since it only happens when shooting into a bright light source.

Now now, I've had an iPhone before (4) and have had multiple iOS products. Just aren't for me now. Just being I criticize Apple and the iPhone doesn't mean I don't follow closely what they do, and won't go back if I want.

That's fair. If this was an issue on my phone I probably wouldn't have noticed to be honest. I'm not much of a camera phone guy. I have.. a camera for my photos.

I did take a nice panoramic shot with my phone last week and was surprised how well it turned out.

Sorry if I pegged you as just another Apple hater. I do appreciate people taking Apple, and other phone makers, to task for their mistakes. You've just seemed to be a little overzealous to me lately.

The pano you posted was really good, especially for a camera shot. I can only see them getting better as the technology improves.

What's with apple guys taking cirtisism directed at apple products so personally? Why do you care? It's not your product, you're just a guy using it. Brand loyalty is the funniest thing to witness from adult males.

I take shots at apple, I laugh when they fail at certain things. But I'm not anti-apple like the apple guys always suggest. I own apple products, but only where it suits me.

I own an ipod because they look sleek and I needed a music player.

I'd own an apple computer, but they're too damn expensive

I own an iphone, because telus had iphones 4's for 0 dollars on a three year plan, when the iphone 4s was coming out. It wasn't brand loyalty, it was "**** it, I'll get one because it's cheap."

I'd suggest everyone just take a step back and remember that these are multi-billion dollar organizations. There's no point in being loyal to a brand, and defending it tooth and nail on the internet. Just buy whatever the **** makes the most sense at any given point in your life.

If apple screws up, laugh at them with the rest of us. When they do something awesome, go "Wow, what a cool innovation" with the rest of us. Down with brand loyalty!!!!

Many of the attacks against Apple are done by fanboys. They see any flaw in an Apple product as validation that they chose the right device. It's not enough that the S3 is a damned good phone, it has to better better than the iPhone. It's this kind of pretentious attitude that has made Apple fanboys so hated in the past.

I agree that loyalty to a consumer device brand is kinda dumb. I use Android because I like its openness, and I use iOS because I like its "app ecosystem" and polish. If I were to choose one OS exclusively I wouldn't bash the other one just to make myself feel better. And it annoys me that some people are doing it here. It just appears to be more Android users doing it lately, so that's why I'm reacting to them.

It's not really exclusive to apple guys, it's just being a fanboy. Replace the word apple with android/ps3/xbox 360/pc ect. ect and the sentence is just as applicable.

Nah, Apple fanboys are a pretty special breed.

Anyways, off topic.
