There still needs to be a folder system for organization apps though. I have 100+ apps on my phone (don't know why really) and need to be able to organize them in a way that I'm not scrolling through lists or needing to perform a search.
|
And that's not difficult either, just implement an app drawer that could be on a dock at the bottom (heck Apple pretty much invented or at least popularized the dock on their desktops) where all the apps you want but don't use daily can be stored, like a storage room for your clutter - but one that is persistent and available on every screen because it's part of a dock.

I'm not sure what the difference between a drawer and a folder is? You can place a folder in the dock if you want to have a larger set of apps persistant on every screen.

I was thinking something more interactive than just a folder, maybe something you could drag up or out.

Reports of data being used while on wifi are creeping out on the iphone5. Seems to be a US/Verzion issue mainly but some Bell users are saying that their data usage is way up even when on wifi. Apple has released a patch for verzion users....Something to check at least.
Here at work we have had a massive problem with syncing calendars to devices running iOS6. Anybody else experiencing that?
As far as apps go and the home screen it is the one thing I really dislike about the iphones etc. I have a clean home screen and use gestures to call up what I want. Double tap for app drawer, swipe down for notification bar, swipe up for dock icons etc. Possible to something like that on iphones?

So one of my gripes of iOS 6 is Safari. When did it start allowing videos on web pages to automatically launch when the page loads? When I visit tsn.ca, every page load an ad takes over my whole screen.
I had Ad Block on my jailbroken 4, so anyone know if this is a new iOS 6 feature? Or has is been like that for a while.
Frickin annoying to say the least.

Anybody else having problems with LTE in Calgary? I can only get 3G even though I'm in the coverage area (I tried going outside too).
Telus says it's a known issue.

I haven't had a problem (Fido), but I've heard some people have reconnected to LTE by resetting their network settings.

The service rep I spoke to had me do the same thing but it didn't work. They won't provide any timelines for when it might be fixed, either.

It all makes sense now. My sister always uses WiFi and went way over her data limit somehow (she's never come close to it before). She called Fido and they said the spike in usage started on the day she upgraded her 4S to os6.

Ugh. Apple maps.
Go to pull up Camp Chief Hector today. They might as well just have Siri pop up and say "Sorry, I don't know where the fata that is"
maps.google.com in Safari, oh there it is. I want my google maps back.

Another decent solution: download an App called AroundMe..use it for searching POI's. It uses Google's database.
From there, you can navigate to the address in Maps, with the turn by turn. (It'll open the POI in Maps)

Hey is that anywhere near "Spay Lake Provincial Park"?. I submitted a typo fixup on that one, mostly because I want to see how quickly they process updates.

I was talking to Bell tech support yesterday (can't seem to get my email on my phone) a d the guy asked if I was on wifi. I told him I was, the. He asked if I had data turned on my phone. I also said yes.
He told me that the phone will use the data option over wifi and thus I'll have higher data charges.
This doesn't make much sense to me, I download conten at home to avoid the charges. I have since turned cell data off. Anyone else hear of this? I'm assuming this is he issue with Verizon in the states?

Sounds like a software glitch and the Bell guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

Sounds like the data problem is across the board and is an OS problem. One guy here burned through his data in 4 days. So far Bell, Fido and Telus customers that I know of have reported the wifi/data issue.

FWIW, some report that The usage counter for Data on iOS 6 is showing a high number, yet their carrier is not reporting the higher #, rather a normal amount.

owners of older iPhone models, especially the iPhone 4 and 4S, have also complained of excessive data use after installing the latest iOS 6. The issue doesn't appear to be tied to a specific carrier, and recent posts point to data usage peaking during overnight hours

That's the Verizon issue, and I think there's a way to fix it.

For now, iPhone 5 owners on Verizon are advised to read their mobile phone bills carefully this month and to download Apple's update ASAP. To do so, just follow these steps:
1. Touch Settings, then General, then About.
2. A pop-up balloon that says "Carrier Settings Updated" should appear. Touch OK.
3. Wait for the update to install.
4. Once installation is complete, turn your phone off and then on again in order for it to go into effect.
