RG3 had a really good combine and I think the hype machine has brought him up a few notches. Luck was still considered the number 1 player immediately after the college season and last year.

Luck is still the top prospect and I think the 'perception' is that he is losing some value. But really, it is just RG3 gaining a little momentum.

Manning taking the number 18 for the Broncos is ridicoulous, the number is retired, take another number, but good old inbred jed has always been about himself.. no shock

They're close. I'd have more faith in luck if he played against SEC defenses. Not unheard of for a qb to be over rated coming out of the PAC 12! Not saying I wouldn't be happy with Luck. But watched them both play quite a bit and was more excited about rg3 by the end of the year. He has a lot of tools, a tonne of potential, and is an exciting prospect.

As opposed to the stud defenses that RG3 faced playing in a spread offense in the Big 12?

Andrew Luck was considered the best prospect since Manning or Elway and came back to have a great year in a pro style offense. Now because RG3 can run fast people are ready to forget just how good Luck is? Crazy.

Frank Tripucka asked him to wear it.

Dear lord this is painful to read on so many levels. Manning had no interest in wearing 18 and didn't like the idea of doing just that, but Frank Tripucka personally reached out to him and asked him to wear it. And it's pretty clear to the entire football world after yesterday, Peyton Manning is a pretty unselfish teammate. Do your homework before you start throwing around those inbred jed jokes.

just guessing that if he wanted number 7, he wouldnt have got it.. a retired number is retired for a reason. that is why Montana didnt take number 16 for the Chiefs..

And he wouldn't have wanted it, if it wasn't offered to him. Peyton talked about how much he cared about the history of the game and had no desire to wear 18 but Frank Tripucka, the man who's 18 is retired in Denver, asked him to. It was a classy move, when a player like that reaches out to you. It was not Peyton's demand...you're literally making a story out of nothing.

the NFL always places so much stock in pure athleticism, thus why guys who are dumber than dirt can get drafted high. e.g Vince Young... very athletic but soooooo stupid.

Nothing against RG3, but I think it's a case of the media trying to create a story here. Luck is still the better prospect, and he's far more pro ready at this point in time. There's still over a month till the NFL draft, Manning mania is done, the name free agents are signed. The Saints scandal has been dealt with...the media needs something to do for a month. Eventually someone will make the RG3 over Luck claim, just to keep themself busy.

Rg3 is a great passer that can run. Luck may be the next manning, but the nfl likely hasnt seen a combination of rg3's speed, accuracy, arm strength, and brains.

Your arguments may be somewhat persuasive in showing Luck is the more nfl ready. I'd still argue that rg3 wins the tool vs tool comparison and has the greater potential. I also think Stanford's schedule was pretty weak, and neither has really proven that they will be successful based solely on their college body of work.

Cam Newton would sure disagree with that. Clearly you rate Rg3 higher then Luck, the argument stems from you saying it's only the Colts who rate Luck higher, when that's clearly not the case.

Luck wasn't exactly slow in his 40 time. He's a lot more Elway than Manning athletically. Whereas RG3 is more like Vick in terms of athleticism.

Nobody is, at least I hope Diggler isn't that dumb. It just is proving a point how much some people in the NFL can over value athleticism over many other key things. After listening to RG3 speak, he is far from another Vince Young but it could be said that some of the attention he's been getting now in the offseason, that he wasn't in the regular season, is because people are starting to see him work out, 40 times and so on. Putting more emphasis on athleticism

not at all, just stating the NFL is awed by athleticim so much that dumb guys can get drafted high, thats why i used Vince Young as an example. everything i have heard about RG3 is that he is smart..

I do think Griffin will have a better rookie season, but that's entirely due to the fact that he'll be joining a far better team.

Cam Newton is fast and powerful and has a cannon that is as accurate as a v2 rocket.
