Wasn't that going to be Shaw's new house? I went into their showroom and it was a whole lot of meh, but the prices were less than I expected.

Shaw is one of our clients and they have been insistent that this project will be going through from the beginning. This is pretty big news for us and need to find out what's going on right away.
Anymore information would be awesome. Thanks CP!

The idea isn't brought to fruition by catering to the irrational detractors but rather beating them into submission. Alternatively, convincing the decisions makers and those that matter is a viable method.

The success of such spaces is dependent on much more than the addition of food carts, street performers, etc.. The quality of the urban design is what allows these features to flurish and the place to be successful.[/Jan Gehl]

Yeah, I agree with Table5, the river pathway does have a rather imposing wall effect in Eau Claire from the residences there.

Remington released some new renderings of Meredith Block today.
I have a dropbox with renderings and information: here

Just like they were insistent about DLNA support on the Gateway, on screen caller ID, remote recording apps, cellular services....
Walked by on my way to Centenial Place and it has indeed turned into the worlds worst parking lot. $30 early bird special! There is one steam roller onsite but it's probably only still there because it got stuck in the mud.

Whispers from a friend who's in the industry say Shaw pulled out of the agreement. I heard this about a week ago, so not surprised 3 Eau Claire may not go through. I always thought that project was too ambitious. Totally reminded me of Resiance and Midtown back in 2005, which I bought into back then and got burned for it.

Forgot to mention that the presentation centre had a sign saying it was closed as of Feb 19th and call for an appointment.

I saw the steam roller in action and it appeared to be there to squeegee out the mud. I have a hard time believing that the office part of the tower is dead if Shaw had pre-leased.
I've been walking by there every day for the last three years and I thought the early bird rate before was $25-28/day. I choked a little bit when I saw the $30/day.

I'm pretty sure that site has been bought by a big developer here in BC. I won't say much as I don't want to spread rumours if it's not true, but I believe it is.
They likely would have bought the site and will re brand and/or re design from 3EC though; so maybe it's all back to square 1 for now until they come back to market at a later date.

I hope the final rendering looks closer to the finished product than the ones with all that yellow stucco.
Do you you know of any specific tenants who will be into the retail bays?

It turns out my senior partner who has a close relationship with Shaw knew about this a few weeks ago and has already had meetings with senior management about what alternatives they have now that 3 Eau Claire is dead. Shaw might just reconfigure their current premises with the renovations their doing to Shaw Court but I doubt they could reconfigure all 240,000SF into Shaw Court.
Right now they are in about 6 floors at Scotia Centre with that lease coming up in 2016. The original plan was to relocate that group to 3 Eau Claire but now things are up in the air. Harvest Operations just took 143,000SF in Scotia and got a screaming deal from Cominar REIT (The Landlord). Shaw may extend their lease or look at options closer to Shaw Court.

I'm not super privy to retail leasing but in speaking with Remington yesterday they let us know they are in talks with a high-end grocery chain, a big 5 bank, and a "Mercato type" restaurant.

Thanks. If there's one thing that Bridgeland could use, it's a grocery store. Doesn't need to be high-end though.

Shaw Court should be torn down. That architectural tumour is single-handedly bringing the morale of the country down every single day it exists.

They should just build a second version of the Shaw tower they have in Vancouver. That thing is much nicer than Shaw Court or 3 Eau Claire.

I could see Save-On foods trying to get in there. Not sure if you would call them high-end but if you dont use their savings card then their prices are high end
