LA Noir is coming to PC.
I'm guessing word got out and it didn't make enough money on consoles so they are opening it up to another platform.
"The PC version of L.A. Noire was developed by Rockstar Leeds. It will run on a wide range of PCs and feature customization, including keyboard remapping and gamepad functionality to both optimize and customize the performance and user experience. Along with increased fidelity and improved graphical enhancements, the PC version will feature 3D support for an even greater sense of interaction and immersion within a painstakingly detailed 1940s Los Angeles."

I think it probably takes longer to plan and develop a game for PC that the 1 month this game has been released.
It's pretty common to release PC games slightly after the console versions.

Just finished the game. Some aspects of it were amazing, and some kind of fell flat. I thought most of the investigations were repetitive and there was no real pressure to get anything right because you'd eventually get to the result regardless.
The last few hours with Kelso were the best parts of the game IMO. Interesting ending.
I'll still give Rockstar credit for covering some interesting territory with themes, character and story. Not perfect but enough to keep me interested beyond most alien or zombie games. The voice acting in this game was by far the best I've seen in any game.

I was primed to get this the second it was released, but when I read the reviews a lot of them said the same thing. It's too bad they had to make it foolproof, and that the bad guys can't get away. Would have added more realism to it, and give your choices some consequence. As soon as I read that it kind of ruined it for me, and I've decided to just wait until I can get a used one or they come down in price a lot.

I'll sell you mine.
I actually think its worth a playthrough despite its flaws. Depends what you game for, I think people who just want to sit down and blow things away for a couple hours will hate it. People who want to experience a bit more of a narrative in their game experience can get something out of it. That being said, I wish there was a bit more blowing things away. As someone who is sick of typical first person shooters and alien games I still think its refreshing to see a game that tries for a different genre and targets the mature gamer. I'd like to see more developers take a chance at making something like this than continuing to see the formulaic garbage that gets dished out in the gaming world these days.

Don't get me wrong; I love the concept, and these types of games are exactly what I'm into, but the fact you really can't make a wrong move would seem IMO to take a lot away from the overall experience. Especially when you know this going in. From all accounts it's still a game worth playing though, so it's still on my radar.

Also, Walmart has the console versions on sale as part of their Black Friday sale this weekend for $24.

Interesting, didn't realize it sold so poorly. Never got around to playing it, so was this basically a miss by R*? I guess after the masterpiece that RDR was the year before (already in my 3rd time around playing it), you can't blame em too much. Can't hit a home run every at bat.
I'm sure they'll recover quite well once GTA V comes out (hopefully this spring, though Max Payne release concerns me).

I don't think it sold poorly at all.
It didn't do as well as RDR last year, but it will likely still be one of the top selling titles of 2011.
Up until the end of September, it was the 8th best selling title of the year, and the best selling game that wasn't a sequel or part of an existing brand/franchise ( http://www.cnbc.com/id/44595477).

Ah I see, I never looked it up, was just going off what I read at the top of the page of how it didn't make enough money on consoles. Usually R* games clean up.
I'm still interested in renting it sometime, I don't know why I never ended up getting it. Pretty big R* fan.

Is it worth it?
I enjoyed playing Mafia II and will still load it up from time to time for it's complete openness and ability to play however I want.
LA Noire seems totally closed, (understandably), but is the game worthwhile?

Again, this isn't a Rockstar game. People keep assuming it is when they didn't have anything to do with it aside from being the publisher. I think that association hurt it more than anything since everyone was expected GTA or RDR.

LA Noire is a linear game. I don't know why they even rendered the city at all. It's pointless. I treat it like a classic adventure game and I love the setting and stories and characters (lead character is a psycho sometimes though, if he can't get a suspect to talk, he keeps threatening to "take them out back" or "bust their teeth"). This is because when they were making the game, the scripts weren't "truth, doubt, lie" but "coax, force, lie". Lawyers would love that.
It's different from Mafia II. There's basically no point at all in LA Noire to explore the city or drive around. I just make my partner drive because it's basically a fast travel system and therefore I won't run into any pedestrians and ruin my rating for a case.
