In the 1990s I did some research on Nike and the sweat shop practices they were doing in Asia, and have boycotted them ever since.

Any gas station that advertises one price on their sign, but then charges more if you use a credit card.

Why Rexall? I use some of the places you folks "boycott." I dont boycott anything. I don't like some places like Macdonalds and walmart so I rarely go in but it's not a boycott. I wouldn't call avoiding a place a boycott.

I think there's a difference between boycott and simply not shopping somewhere.

For example: I don't go to McDonalds . . . ever. Last time I ate at McDonald's was in 2000 before that 1998. Reason being I have had horrible service at a location that as messy as hell, with spitballs on the walls, and garbages overflowing, and an indifferent staff. The food has always sucked, and thus I made the decision not to eat there anymore. In 2000 I thought I was just being silly, and not to let one franchise ruin the company for me. So on a road trip we stopped at McDonald's I ordered, took two bites and complained how awful it was, threw it away and went to a pizza place across the street.

For the record 1998 was in Manchester NH, and 2000 Antigonish NS so not the same owners.

That said, if you want to eat there, by all means go ahead. I won't prevent anyone from eating there, if I'm driving and you want me to go through the drive-thru I will. If I'm running errands and you want me to pick it up for you, I will. I just won't eat it.

Is that really a boycott? I don't think so. Otherwise it'd be like me saying I boycott Denny's because there isn't one even remotely near me, or Reitman's because I don't buy women's clothing. Or Gulfstream because I don't buy any of their airplanes.

This is not true. There hasn't been a Toyota that has been remotely exciting, powerful, or of interest to an automotive enthusiast since the 90's.

Boycotting all fast food burgers. Real ground beef only represents about 15-20% of actual meet cuts in the "ground beef patties", the rest is what they call "filler", which does come from beef, but it includes all the parts that cannot be sold by butchers as cuts (use your imagination).

I don't boycott a damn thing. If the price is right and I need it, I buy it.

I'm thinking of boycotting home depot for charging 5 cents a bag. I have no issue with Superstore doing the same thing because they've got the low cost model going but Home Depot is a rip, they'll charge you 40 bucks for a 50cent widget, then they gouge you again by charging for a plastic bag?? And it's all under the guise of 'being green'.

I generally can't be bothered. To apathetic. There was an earlier poster who hated apple do to the trendyness. I guess I might be like that - but more the sheer douchiness of their superfans.

Two business I will never set foot in again:

-The Future Shop in Northland Village for exceptionally poor service, even by Future Shop's standards.

-The Honda dealership on 32nd avenue after their salesmen tried to lie to my face about the insurance costs of a new vechile of theirs. I already had quotes for various cars last time I was looking, and told them straight out that lying to customers was a bad thing.

The rest of my boycots are temporary and usually are the result of horrendous advertising promotions.
-Boycotted the Herald until Dowbiggin left - boycott has now moved to the Globe and Mail.
-Currently boycotting Panago until that ridiculous construction worker commercial set dies off.
-Fountain Tire until that bald freak dies.

Cars are a depreciating asset and in all reality a luxury item. So if the Toyota is a good product that does the job, I don't care if it's boring or if everyone points at me and laughs for having a boring car. At least I never got a smug letter from Toyota like my Dad did from GM bascially daring him to try a competitors product if he didn't like theirs because they didn't think he would.

I'm not saying you are overly serious about this and I don't want to be Buzz Killington but the French get a bad rap here in Canada. The seperatist movement is ridiculous and becoming more fringe with each passing year. And the French deserve respect because they were the only ones that had the balls to settle Canada - not the Brits or even the Vikings. If not for the French, we'd all be Yanks or Brits, not Canadians.

Lastly, Montreal and Quebec City are unbelievablly cool cities. Top 3 in Canada for sure. Fun, historic, as European as you'll see in the Americas, have hot women, the best strip joints and the best nightlife in Canada. I know in rural Quebec where they are more hardcore it can be a problem but Canada after all is a bilingual country.

Like every Canuck Air Canada ha f'ed me over many times but usually with airlines we are all price sensitive and don't afford to be too picky. I've flown with them recently and they've been much better. The level of service over the past few years has improved and they are AC and WJ are the only North American airlines to my knowledge that have TVs/movies for you to watch on a North American flight. Over the last few years I have taken countless flights with American, Delta, NorthWest, US Airways, United, etc and their service has been much poorer.

I used to avoid buying McCains products because I hated their commercials so much, but, really I haven't even thought about that in awhile.

Also, once I went to a Supercuts type place and it turned out a guy hair cutter became free when I was up, so I paid a $5 fee to reserve your favorite stylist, which was the next female. So I guess I boycott male hair cutters

Shell: Because they were caught putting additives in their gasoline that were proven to cause damage to vehicles. (Fuel gauges and fuel pumps)

Petro Canada: Because it's incredibly "Peeving" that they advertise 3.5 cents a litre off regular prices (with a petro-points card) that only ultimately puts them on Par with all other gas stations.

Canadian Tire: Sold my Wife (who was driving across the Country with my 2 young daughters) 2 "Brand new tires", which were later proven to be used and one even had a rubber plug in it and subsequently "burst" while my Wife was driving 100 KMH on the Deerfoot.

......So Why?
There are a sh**load of things you can get with the points though. I always get free car washes, free windshield wiper fluid, free oil, free chips, free drinks, etc. I always knew they advertised like that. The points are an extra incentive. people redeem them everyday for things. You can get almost anything int he store with points. Lottery tickets as well.

I can't remember exactly how many points you need for everything, but it didn't take *5 Years*. Just look at your receipt next time or ask the person what your balance is and what you can redeem.

Places like Petro and Esso also have the best quality gas as well. Places like 7-11 and even Superstore have worse.

I love West Jet. I've never heard of anybody complain about them. I've been flying with them numerous times a year since 1999. Never ever had one complaint or problem with them.

The only time I got a little miffed was when I booked an expensive ticket to Vancouver and about 8 hours later it went down in price by almost half. I called and asked why this was and they changed my price b/c it was within 24 hours.
