I think some folks forget what it's like being 18, and how much growing up there is still to do. We all learn different things at different times. I think what I like most about Nemisz is that he is a smart player, focused and responsible. He has some skill and is willing to improve.

Would you be saying that we are a joke because we are touting this guy because he stands out to the casual viewer?
It's my opinion only and as I stated before from only a small sample size that he doesn't look like a major prospect. It means nothing at all in the big picture because Nemisz future is in his own hands. Hopefully he works really hard on his skating and adapts well to the professional game but the hockey world is littered with players like Nemisz that put up solid junior numbers on good teams that weren't fast or skilled enough to make the NHL.
If you haven't noticed CP is just a bunch of hockey fans voicing their opinion. Nemisz being a regular NHLer is no sure thing so the only thing you accomplish with comments like that is that in a few years the joke may be on you.

I said that he's progressing at a decent rate, (he's a top player on a rare two time championship team), and there is no reason to write him off, like a few of you are.
He's not exciting, I'll give you that but as far as point production goes, he's put up points while being defensively strong, no matter who his linemates are.
I also respect his coach's opinion and our scouts way before I listen to your half baked ideas. The only thing I agree with you is we will have to wait and see if he'll sink or swim and that's what I've been arguing from the beginning.

If that's the case, I would expect a consistant 20 goal, 50 point player. I'd take that anyday.

A consistent 20 goals and 50 points year in and year out is nothing to scoff at and I would be quite pleased if Nemisz could put up those kind of numbers.

Obviously he is willing to put in the work it takes, he spent last summer in Calgary training hard with the Flames trainers and look how improved his game/skating was this past season.
He definitely is well aware of what he needs to do and has showed his work ethic is already established.

We'll have to wait and see if Nemisz can produce those kinds of numbers at the NHL level.

And Kris Versteeg never blew away the stats columns while in the WHL, but he is doing really well in the NHL.

Pretty much.
Players hardly get drafted solely for their ability to put up numbers. Scouts look at a whole slew of other intangibles.

There aren't too many guys who don't put up points in the juniors that become point producers in the NHL. Obviously it isn't everything.. but if you aren't putting up points in junior pretty doubtful you're going to develop into a top line forward in the pros.

Strengths: Goaltending, skilled forwards, tough defencemen

I didn't want to start a new thread about this, but I found something neat on sportsnet.ca, said the Flames have strengths in skilled forwards. Thats interesting...

It's nice that somebody recognizes we have skilled forwards, but very disappointing that they also say Tim Erixon, TJ Brodie and John Negrin are "tough, rugged defensemen."

...yeah, and then they go on to say our weakness is offensive defenseman. Now Brodie, Erixon, Negrin and Seabrook are far from gauranteed to be NHL defensmen at this point, but they all have offensive upside......not Mike Green upside mind you, but should be able to chip in more than your typical defensive defenseman should they develop into NHL players.

Yeah they're hardly lacking in offensive defencemen. I wouldn't even say their forward depth is horrible. What they're really lacking is prospects with top-end potential.
