Hot damn I love this game so far. When I first got in to town I accidentally drew my pistol and pissed off the town folk. Oops. Anyone manage to get Bonnie in the sack yet?
But most of the things this game has is just straight ripped from "Call of Juarez" - as in deadeye, the duels, the kill for money and spend in weapons stores.
Especially the Deadeye and duels. I mean WTF is this all about? It's not original, it's completely jacked from Call of Juarez (which also has to this day a wicked MP community).

I am pretty sure Duels happened in the time period, and wasn't ripped off from Call of Juerez as they actually happened, like most things in the game.
Not to mention the predecessor to Red Dead Redemption was out 2 years before Juerez was (Red Dead Revolver) so they didn't "steal" anything.
Red Dead Redemption 2 years later:
and the Dead Eye ability? They're not exactly the same to you?
I'll youtube it for you when it's out for more than 13 hours and the deadeye comes on.
As it goes with any new game, it's always "original" but look it up, a lot of the battle modes of this game are straight up stolen from Call of Juarez.
Red Dead Revolver was before both Call of Juarez games. This game is the spiritual successor to that, I don't know how everything they're doing is ripping off Call of Juarez.
Like I said, back in the west everything was settled by duels, I don't see how R* including it into their game makes it out to be stealing from CoJ.
Location: Oklahoma - Where they call a puck a ball...

How is mulitplayer working for you guys ? I found it a lil weird I could see my guy but not his pistol or rifle. He was shooting the finger pistol *Bang Bang* and killing people . Then there was the time I was riding my donkey and he disappeared and I was floating in air. I was still riding the donkey , just no one could see him. Then the best thing ever happened. I completely disappeared! I was riding a stage coach with my buddy. Him , I , and the coach just vanished. We were still moving around and we could see other people's names above their heads but couldnt actually see people.
Anyone else get this problem? Its getting old and quick!
I then popped in NHL and played OTP and we had a guy on our team, mad cause he had to play defense. He just stood in our offensive zone , off sides. We couldnt even get in the zone. He got called for interference and pulled our goalie so he wouldnt have to wait the 2 min, and then right back into our offensive zone.

so if you take a good thing about a game and put that in your better game.. that's bad?

Justin is right about the first game:
deadeye(the commercial is even called deadeye):
duel 3 minutes in:
also here's GUN, which has more similarities to red dead redemption than call of juarez. It has slow mo shooting as well:

This code activation thing is pretty ######ed. I wants mah horsie!
I wonder, when the code server is actually up, if you have to enter the stupid dashes in the code - talk about ######ed, the onscreen keyboard doesn’t have a - key without shifting.
Regardless, I think its a good game.
My favourite moment last night was standing on the upper balcony of the saloon in Armadillo, just enjoying the scenery, when a gang of about 5 horsemen came tearing down the main strip shooting in the air, yipping, etc. They had a townwoman tied up on the back of one horse. Without thinking, I went into deadeye mode and dropped all five of them from the balcony, jumped down, and collected the loot and a decent chunk of fame.
I also managed to decipher my first treasure map, which was a really neat feeling because I don’t think they are too obvious at all. The second map that I found in the chest from the first map looks even more difficult, and I have no idea where to proceed on that one.
This game already has me far more engaged than GTAIV did. On paper, I love GTAIV, but in reality I had a hard time focusing on it for more than 20 minutes at a time. Maybe I was just burned out on GTA, I dunno.
I haven’t checked out the general store yet - I am really hoping one of the items you can buy is binoculars or a spyscope, it would be great for surveying the landscape to find baddies and stuff.

Hey, did you also notice that horses in place of cars, and being able to jack stagecoaches was borrowed from GTA too?
Crazy stuff man, crazy stuff

So I'm sitting on my horse outside the saloon in Armadillo... This is in single-player mode, btw... Anyway, I'm sitting there and all of a sudden the saloon doors bust open and this crazy guy comes staggering out with a hooker chasing him. I watched him stagger into the street in front of me, talking about needing to find a way home, and then he grabs me and throws me off my horse, hops on and rides away.
Anybody done a treasure map yet? I’m curious if the first one you get is the same across all games. I got mine through a random encounter, but I wonder if they are a series that differs between play throughs.
Thinking about picking this up but I'm worried it's a game I'll have to invest a lot of time in doing stupid missions before I can do the fun stuff, is that the case? I'm not sure how much time I'll have in large blocks but if I can do 30-40 mins of shooting things and terrorizing townfolk without jumping through tons of hoops I'll be buying.
Btw, don't forget to link your gamer tag to Rockstar's social network. You get 7 in-game cheats in return. Obviously, you can't use the cheats in MP and enabling them in SP deactivates achievements and save games... but they're fun to enable if you want to just go on a killing spree or want an instant-bounty or whatever.
Quote:
* Increase Bounty cheat - Raise your bounty immediately.
* Bad Guy cheat - Grant yourself the lowest honor.
* So-so Guy cheat - Give yourself a neutral honor.
* Change Weather cheat - Cycle through the weather.
* Donkey Rider cheat - Spawn a donkey to ride.
* Dead Eye Level 1 - Reset your Dead Eye to level 1.
* Dead Eye Level 2 - Reset your Dead Eye to level 2.

I found the first treasure (it is a gold bar), and it is located in "Hanging Rock" I believe is the name. I haven't been able to figure out the 2nd one though.

Same here - so now we know the map series is the same...iiiiinteresting
