That flag that everyone is complaining about I believe was passed to them from a fan in the crowd not made by them.

Should we be surprised? This is the same group that felt the need to celebrate like crazy when scoring the 8th, 9th and 10th goals in a blowout win over teams that aren't anywhere near their level.
Not impressive.

How can you compare baseball to the olympics. God forbid something as lofty as olympic gold be treated with a bit of respect.

My thoughts exactly. Historically, I've been pretty proud of the women's teams over the years, but not this particular team in these particular Olympics.

Really? I didn't know "at least I didn't do _____" was an admissible defense.
There is a time and place for celebrating, but smoking cigars over a case of beer at center ice 30 minutes after a Gold Medal Game at the Olympics is neither.

Was there any nudity? No? Then it wasn't a party.

I watched the first game where they were doing this and had to turn it off. I was extremely disappointed when I saw them doing it and am disappointed at the celebration last night.
Scott Lago was asked to leave Vancouver by US Snowboarding for this...
Your at the Olympics, chill out and do things that are expected of an Olympian.
There's an athletes village/dressing room for a reason. Go slap on all 14 condoms, get drunk and smoke your brains out there.

What a bunch of beauties! Way to go girls, celebrate the huge moment.
I bet half of them had huge dips in too, it's all part of hockey culture, not that many on here would know anything about that.

Hardly a national scandal, a bit of misjudgement by some.
I bet if cigars weren't involved there would be no outcry either.

My thoughts exactly, to me when they started cheering with 5 seconds to go it was already pretty classless. I mean really, is that necessary? Wait 5 bloody seconds and cheer after the buzzer.
This celebration thing to me is just more of the "in your face" attitude that we've seen from these women. Some of these women have kids, I wonder if that's what they teach their kids, "OK kid, when you win, remember to rub it in your competition's face, cause that's what sports is about!". Really? Gimme a break women, you've played yourselves out of the Olympics IMO and I won't shed a tear.

I can certainly see why they celebrated the way they did...winning Gold at home in front of a home crowd in a Canadian rink? I know I would want to celebrate on the ice.
And for those of you saying they think it's arrogant...isn't that exactly what people are saying we should see more of from Canadians athletes? I think it's good to see Olympic athletes who carry themselves with a bit of swagger and arrogance and who think they are the best in the world...because guess what? They are.

I agree with Jiri, this team has showed how classy they are throughout these games and I wasn't overly fond of them. I'm happy they won gold and applaud them for the accomplishment (beating the americans was not as cut and dry as many believe).
I think this debate boils down to one question. In your mind if you can see the Americans doing this and think "good for them", then you are free to have no problem with the celebration. If you're like me and the thought of Americans doing that makes your blood boil just a little, then I think it would be hypocritical to say our celebration was a positive thing.

Shame on them for being happy for reaching the pinnacle of their athletic careers.
I mean really, it's not like they just won an OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL.

No way, girls aren't allowed to have beer. Only coolers, white wine, and whatever new drink men make socially acceptable for them to drink.
Boy, I bet if you stumbled into any other Off Topic board thread about what you look for in a woman, "Interested in hockey" and "likes beer" would be #1 and #2 on the criteria list. Combining the two, along with winning a gold medal for your country, is suddenly trashy?
They should have been celebrating in the kitchen while chilling the beer for the real team Canada; the Men!

This post leads me to believe you have never accomplished anything that required more of a celebration than going to Tony Roma's after your report card came out.
I am astounded that winning a gold freakin' medal is now somehow not an important accomplishment. I bet Kevin Martin thinks winning gold is no big deal too.

If some users think it was classless, that's fine, but after seeing this pic I wanna party with Meghan Agosta. I would however, change her choice of beer...
