blah blah. beating your only competitor shouldn't warant that celebration. if you win 3 out of the 4 olympics while playing in all finals and 9 out of 12 world championships while playing in all finals, you shouldn't act like heroines. it doesn't look right.

They get a chance at their goal every four years and it isn't exactly the grueling accomplishment that winning the Stanley Cup is.
Yes...every four years, that's my point. Thanks for making it.

Winning the Stanley Cup is a greater cause for a celebration than winning the women's Gold and yet the Cup winning teams don't celebrate in such a tacky manner.
In YOUR opinion, not in the mind of those girls. Sorry.

I think the sport or reason for celebrating is irrelevant.
It's a classless way to celebrate no matter what it is.

Yes they represented Canada, and did very well too. GOLD.
I for one (among many) think there is nothing wrong with celebrating.
If anyone, blame their coaches for not moving it elsewhere, out of easily offended eyes.
Like there's any competition in Women's hockey, Canada is pretty much guaranteed silver at the very least. Anyways, it looked tacky, I don't see why they had to go out on the ice to do that.

Best of 2 is a bit less of an accomplishment than winning... say a World Cup of Football. It's like me saying I'm the best lawyer in this office. Well, there is 2 of us here, and about 3,000 other lawyers in the city who don't give a fata.

I don't know what it is. Maybe I just don't like seeing that much arrogance from us in this particular event.

I didn't even like the golden maple leaf on that one Canadian flag they brought out. Seemed tacky.

They're grown women, they can exercise a bit of tact.

I know it's painful but that possiblity has to exist.

The Russian girls will improve too.
They won't - our girls only excel at tennis and porn.

I'm happy for the girls winning the gold medal, but they lost my attention when there was a "body checking" penalty called halfway through the first period.

Admittedly that is pretty low brow of them. Even basketball players leave the weed smoking to the dressing room.

Over the top and pretty trashy. Doing it is not an issue, but really, pretty unnecessary to be celebrating all over the ice like that. Stupid mistake by the team.

This could have been avoided if the IOC didn't take FOREVER to give each player a medal, and then flowers, one-at-a-time.

So many haters.

I think it's funny, let them have their moment. At least they aren't trashing rooms in the athletes village ala another hockey team.

I sure hope the mens celebrate in a similar fashion! Those celebrations, I believe are representative of Canadians. Its what we do to unwind, have some fun, and party. The celebration was well deserved and I am proud of Canadians and their celebrations, keep them coming! It is not unflattering its who we are and what we do nothing to be ashamed of.

Win the game, shakle hands, then go back to your room/bar/whatever and have at 'er. Waving the golden flag around right after the game, laying on the center ice logo, and huffing cigars really bothers me for some reason.
Well said.

I agree they should have done it in the dressing room afterward. Even when the players win the Stanley Cup this doesn't happen.

I realize some there are a lot of younger girls on the team, but show some class and respect.

The one thing that a lot of you are disregarding is that these aren't the only 24 women hockey players in Canada. Yes Canada and the Americans are by far the best nations for women's hockey, but to make the national team, then go through 4 years of training, and then win the olympic tournament (which there is still 1 really competitive team they have to go through so its not a cake walk) is still a pretty good accomplishment.

All in all, the celebration should have still have been done away from the cameras, however there is no reason to be so uptight about it either. Let Jaques Rogge and the rest of his old timer IOC buddies complain. Celebrating with Beer even while underage is something that is generally accepted in our culture. We aren't here sitting around making fun of your accent or anything you do in your culture.

I guess the next time the World Series champs, for example, come out of the locker room to party on the field or on top of the dugout, spraying the remaining fans with champagne, we should come down hard on them and tell them to keep it in the locker room.
