I remember after the first season that Fox and Brian Grazer were in dealing to use the story of The Da Vinci Code as the basis of Season 2. Grazer owned the rights and thought it would be a dynamic plot for Bauer and the gang.

Needless to say Grazer turned TDVC into one of the most bland blockbusters of all time and Season 2 was the first season with a Nuke on American soil.

I'll see if I can track down the article but it was from like 01/02 or so.

24 is just the perverted imagination of Fox news. I think it's disgusting

No kidding. Nothing can harm him... no bullets, no bombs... nothing. Guys with assault rifles could not even make him bleed but yet he kills soldiers wearing military grade Kevlar with a pistol. Nice.

Kevlar doesn't protect from getting one shotted. 3 shots, 3 kills...pretty effective Mr. Bauer, pretty effective.

Honorable mention to President Hassan for not being completely useless.

I'm actually liking season 8 a lot better than some of the more recent seasons. I thought that they're doing a pretty good job limiting the crazy plot twists and stupid plot devices so far. I remember completely losing it when they pulled out the mad cow disease bomb out that one season, etc. Couldn't stop laughing at that. I could go on...

It is definitely better than season 6 and 7.

What I thought was a little ridiculous was when the Adviser guy for the president called Jack on his cell and hung up. Jack got so worked up on it and somehow deduced that there was something wrong. But that's nothing major... I do think this season is better than the last few minus the Dana Walsh story. There cannot possibly be that many moles in CTU.

Jack is just that good at what he does, he knows that the advisor wouldn't call him from a personal line for no reason, especially when he's escorting an important asset. What I'm curious about is how Jack is going to b*tch slap that guy who got played by the general, and then hung up on Jack right before he was attacked. Talk about a way to wreck your career. "Don't worry, our team is elite, Jack doesn't stand a chance....." Right, so how many dozens of elite teams has jack beat the crap out of over the years now?

Speculation:

When the general called Dana to see why she hasn't contacted him yet, she mentioned something like "My orders are to preserve my cover, not to help you with the attack"

So that means she doesn't take her orders from the current main bad guy. Might mean there is still someone out there that is behind it all
Just a thought

Of course.. to keep you thinking.

I have liked this season better than the last couple, but the Dana Walsh story (being a mole, etc) is lame.

I love Chloe's autistic behavior -- "I don't do well with praise" -- haha.

Chloe is pure money.

Prediction: Chloe + the geeky 12 year old looking guy bust Dana Walsh, and Chloe kicks her ass in an epic chick fight.

I haven't watched a ton of 24 over the years and have never seen a season from start to finish but I'm absolutely certain that there will turn out to be a bigger bad guy that is behind all of this.

While the idea of a prion variant as a weaponizible biological agent isn't that big of a stretch, the speed in which it was able to infect was. The same can be said for the Cordilla virus in Season 3. To the best of my knowledge, there aren't many viruses or bacterium that can infect and present symptoms within a few hours. Possibly a few mycotoxins, but nothing approaching Hanta virus/hemorrhagic fever-type symptoms.

I liked the nuclear and chemical terrorist plots - much more feasible. And I am surprised that it has taken until Season 8 before they looked at a radiological dispersal device, which is the most plausible high-impact unconventional weapon terrorists could deploy.

Fair play to the writers for an interesting Season 8 (minus Dana Walsh).

One thing that really bothered me was the EMP device plotline.

If these guys are so sophisticated they could build an EMP why didn't they just use that as their weapon?

Not an expert but I'd guess that detonating an EMP in Manhattan could cause some pretty serious repercussions. Wouldn't a big enough EMP, detonated in the right spot bring down airliners, kill all power and likely lead to mass hysteria, riots and looting?

Yes it probably would, but it wouldn't create a 40 block radiation wasteland either....

Are they really going to go with irradiating a massive section of New York? I keep going "no way ..." and then I go ... "well ... maybe".

You forget that in the past, L.A. got nuked, and so did the desert outside vegas I think. Jack has ~20 minutes to wreck shop, or there's gonna be a big boom in New York.

Oh, no, I'm not forgetting those things. This just seems to me to be on a different scale. We'll see soon enough!

Gotta say.....she's one terrible actress. I see a bright career in B movies and late night showcase for her.
