Okay, I went on the BC region Telus website and found this offer, (actually the same offer without a bundle for $26) so I phoned Telus. I'm in BC but they said it's not available in my area. It's available in Surrey etc. but not where I live since they don't have any competition in my area. Needless to say, I'm not pleased and it's typical of Telus. Maybe you can straighten this out because as soon as there is an alternate phone service, Telus is going to be history.

If your in a non regulated area, we have no choice. The CRTC regulates phone prices and we can't charge lower than what they have set the prices to. No way around it dude, write to the CRTC and let them know what you think

Why do those customer retention people tell customers moving into rural areas that an aircard is a suitable replacement to DSL?

I should have done my homework because what followed was the worst service I've ever had for about 7 months until I moved to a place with DSL.

God I hate Telus Mobility and Telus for recommending the aircard and the moment I can get my services for cheaper elsewhere I will never be a Telus customer again.

Can you get Telus TV with the 15mbps internet, or only the 6mbps.

Also, any idea on when if you might get a dual tuner or are bandwidth issues the limiting factor?

Thanks, on the phone they never said it was a CRTC regulation, they just said that they won't give me that plan.

You can't get Telus TV with 15mbps, I've been approached by Telus about getting TTV, and every time, I have to tell them I'm on the 15mbps service and not interested in losing that.

If you got a second DSL line into the house strictly for internet, you could have both, but you would be paying a lot more, and it would no longer be cost-competitive with other options.

Any idea when the current Telus TV deal expires - the free PVR rental with 3 year signup or is this the likely deal for the forseeable future.

I am planning on making the Shaw switch in November - just need to get some serious torrenting finished first, then I will drop Shaw for Telus.

Also, I assume there needs to be a phone line near where the TV is going correct? If not then you are SOL correct?. I have Gb networking in my condo, is it possible to have the modem connected in one place, and have the TV run over the network?

The PVR rental for free with the 3 year sign up isn't likely to go away anytime soon.

As far as needing a phone line near the TV not necessarily the case. We will install a phone jack or use the coax in the house, or, run ethernet cable. We will make it work. And yes, you can have your modem one place and the tv in another easily

If you have Telus phone and internet, then adding a second line for TV won't cost you anymore(except for added cost for TV and possibly installation costs plus you get your added $5 bundle discount). You just have to set up one phone line to have TV and phone(or another DSL plan), and the other DSL only.

If you don't have home phone then yes adding another line would be a lot more expensive.

I just got my cellphone with telus- my parents had been with them for 4 years already (contracts expired for a year, on month to month basis for last year).

I got an LG Keybo II (stylish phone, great qwerty keyboard).

I'm on the 25$ student share plan, my parents are on the $15 share plans and we all have caller ID and voicemail. The total bill each month is $86 for all three phones! If you are with a provider currently and your contract runs out, it can be very beneficial to call them and see if you can get a deal. Even if you don't have a smartphone/data package/unlimited calling to Timbuktu!

TELUS will do all they can to prevent people from adding a 2nd line for a faster high speed with TV. Reason being it costs TELUS lot of money, as it takes up 2 ports instead of just 1 for the house

That's good news for people who want to use TELUS but also want the iPhone and other unlockable GSM phones. I know it's one reason I went to Rogers, for the freedom of choice of phones.

If you want to sign up for one TV (the HD PVR) and have no need for a second one can you get the 6mbps or higher internet?

From what I can gleen from digital home forum HD takes up 8mbps, SD takes up 4mbps.

Just wondering what the current model number the PVR is that Telus uses. I wanted to look up the data sheet for it.

Also any idea if the PVR model is to be changed anytime soon? I dont want sign up for Telus TV and then have them come out with a fancy new PVR after I sign a 3 year contract.

For IP TV we have the 430 and 330... I have no clue what brand lol

For Satellite, we use the same as bell, the 9420 and the 6241 ... I'm at home so I don't actually have the exactly model numbers on me.
If you sign a contract you get a discount on the rental equipment, and if new stuff comes out you can ask for the new equipment.

Or dont sign the contract, and pay a rental fee like the other companies. Probably what I would suggest actually. The non PVR is 10 per month, the PVR is 15 a month

Ended up doing this, but with 2 features. A land line is important for the alarm system monitoring I'm paying for.
