Fantastic news. I thought his side might want the bridge option but glad to see a long term deal.

Hanifin signed a 6 year deal. Coleman signed a 6 year deal in free agency. Wolf will sign. Rooney came here.
At one point we had a good American group here. No complaints or fear mongering that time.

I'm so glad Treliving no longer our GM, great job Conny.

With Zary I could see both sides wanting a bridge, because we don’t really know what he is given all the injury disruption. Is he middle-six or top-six? Centre or wing? Hard to say.
Coronato and Wolf have been on steady trajectories. Lock ‘em up.

Interesting that Coronato took the long-term deal, but nice to see that he doesn't mind staying in Calgary long-term.
At worst, he's a Vatrano-type middle-six goal scorer and under performs the contract value a little. At best, he's a more durable version of Cammalleri and it's a good deal.
Good work by Conroy to take the gamble.

Fox left as well... but he only wanted to sign with the Rangers, so not sure that would count?

In the press release Conory said Coronato and his team made it clear they wanted a long term deal.
Also wonder if Weegar plays a role in things. He is the perfect in between of the young players and older players. Everyone can vibe with him. He is a selling point for the city and what we are doing with our arena and stuff.
I was a bit baffled that Florida put him in the the trade. He was a big piece of that team and he has been just as good if not better here.

This is obviously a great signing. Coronato gets some security here, and the Flames look to have a bargain contract on their hands for the majority of these years. Coronato has taken a massive step forward this past year, and I bet he continues to improve as the years go by since he seems to have that high-motor and work ethic. He is already a great pro at an early age. This will end up being a bargain down the road, and probably for the majority of the term.

You gotta give up quality to acquire a player like Tkachuk

And Chucky likely would have signed a long term deal if Tre had the cap room to afford it.

The vast majority of young players in Coronato's situation will jump at a long term contract.

Very reminiscent of the Matt Boldy deal in Minnesota, and look how great that has turned out for the Wild. Love it!

Maybe I'm old but these contracts seem to have exploded in the last 5 years. 6.5 mil a year for a 25 goal scorer is a little nuts to me as someone who did most of my hockey watching in my teenage years.
Still. Matt Freakin' Scoranato.

$100mm cap, it's like paying him ~$2mm back when the cap started.
