I’m all for shipping out more Swedes and bringing in more Russians. Operation Svenk failed so now it’s time to try the C of Red Square

I also didn't necessarily mean strictly a 1st in my post when I say picks. After last years draft I have a ton of faith in Conroy and the scouting team. I think there's options with guys like Mantha or Pospisil to get a 2nd or 3rd.

I'd personally still take the chance on Askarov even if we don't get a 1st back in separate deal.
Forgot about Kuzmenko, but I don't think he brings back a 1st.

I don't think goaltending is a priority for this team right now.

Jacob's 1st? Essentially turning it into Markstrom --> Askarov which is some fine asset management.

Give him 2/3 of a season with top minutes and top PP minutes.

The second he or the team goes through a tough stretch, eyes will immediately turn to him. He knows it. If it's a compelling city for him, I have no doubt he'll go. There just has to be an incentive. Marner for Askarov would be giving up too much for the Leafs though. Probably a bigger set of stuff going from Nashville, I'd guess.
I have said numerous times he won't. He doesn't want to go anywhere and holds all the cards. The Leafs will absolutely re-sign Marner. It will be fun to see who has the scoop here.

How will the Leafs afford all these guys? Someone has to go, they can't have 5 forwards making over 10M a season.

He’s a known quantity, he’s bad and not worth his contract. He has zero value to Nashville,as they would then have 3 goalies.

Tavares will be off the books or back at a very cheap price. They absolutely can do it if they fill the bottom half of the roster with cheap players and entry level guys.

Seeing vladar in trade proposals is kind of funny no offense to anyone.

He's had the worst advanced stats in the entire nhl the last 2 seasons.

Nobody is going to give up anything of significance for him.

Moving the 26 1st from the Marky deal for Askarov would be perfectly fine. That's the caliber of prospect you spend 1sts one.

It's actually a 25 1st top 10 protected, if we get the 26 pick its unprotected and likely means New Jersey is stumbling so it's worth a lot more than a goalie who hasn't show much better than Dustin Wolf.

Well, I suppose it depends on how you value the best prospect in each respective teams pools.

They are both the top ranked prospects (or top 2) in their organizations, which is what you're paying for in a trade to acquire either of them.

I feel like Minnesota is a no brainer on this one. Their goaltending depth is not very good and think they could propose a package with Rossi to easily get it done,

Perhaps something like

To NSH
Rossi
Merrill

To MIN
Askarov
Sissons

Gives Nashville another depth dman and some additional space to sign Rossi and Tomasino. (Throw depth equalizer picks in where need be)

Goalies are difficult, and I don't think its worth the risk of trading a unprotected pick in deep drafts.

We can't fool around this time around, we need to keep our picks and keep adding to it. We need a #1C to come out of these drafts somehow.

The only goalie I would pay a 1st for is a clear cut elite goalie, and the league only has a handful of them. You can get by and win with a no name type goalie.

You wont get by trotting out Sharangovich a converted winger to C and win anything.

Wallstedt who is Minnesota's prospect is neck and neck with Askarov as the best prospect not in the NHL at the position according to many experts.

They're one team who's not making a play here.

Out of everyone and the scouting you do, that these next few drafts are very important for us.
