I dont think he is biased against or towards any one team.

I do think he is just horrible at play by play. Unlistenable in fact and why i dont have the volume up when he is on.

The only other pbp guy i ever had the same issue with is Jack Edwards, who is a bombastic mouth breathing conehead.

Flames are gonna get annihilated. Hottest team in the league coming in against our back up and we usually #### the bed against them. And for some reason I’m going. Why do I hate myself so much?

It's pretty obvious that McDavid is a target of SNet broadcasts. Singh, being still new to the game and plopped into a very coveted role, is extra careful to go along the company line to make sure that McDavid, and as a result the Oilers, get a different level of excitement than any opponent.

Oilers game or not I don't like his style, and much of it is the inexperience he has calling NHL or really any higher level hockey games. Main gripe is his forcing of game notes and relaying of recent stats into the commentary with little regard for the action going on the ice while he's doing that.

And often being distracted and behind a bit...decent scoring chances sometimes are ignored while non existent chances (McDavid) get an excitement level that's unwarranted. Reminds me of the disaster that Rob Kerr was that season or two on PBP.

It's a very hard job, and it takes years of experience for any announcer, let alone national ones to get that comfort level of managing information and calling the game, and getting a feeling for the pulse of a game... it's gained starting low and rising through the ranks. Singh doesnt have that experience, fast tracked into a top role really quickly.

Yeah, I totally get this sentiment, and people will often have very different takes on what they like and dislike in a broadcasting team. The accusations of bias are almost always just a projection of the fan.

I am fine with Singh.

I decided not to go tonight and flip back and forth to the NFL playoff game.

I went to the TOR game and the annoying Leafs fans were unbearable. Not spending a Saturday night with delusional Oilers fanboys.

Felt like in recent years, the obvious or more exciting option for a call up was often not made in place of a veteran fourth line guy. Take today’s call up. Instead of bringing up Coronato, they would have brought up a fourth line veteran AHL player and just moved someone up from the existing fourth line to fill Posposil’s spot. Or if they did bring up a young top six forward from the farm team, the coach would usually limit his minutes instead of giving him a real opportunity.

Today, we have an exciting young sniper coming in who is not only going to get top six minutes on a scoring line but also some powerplay opportunity. Also, we’re bringing in Klapka who has all kinds of upside and adds a different element to the fourth line with his size and skill. These guys are being given the best opportunity to succeed.

They might struggle. They might do great. Either way, at least we will get to see them given a proper chance to show what they can do.
Not the only change from last year but a big one for sure. May not have gotten them in last year and Sutter still here, but lack of versality trying new things is something I'm very grateful we have this year.

Just a copy from the Last of Us thread here:

https://calgary.ctvnews.ca/flames-re...luna-1.6735072

Meanwhile, one of the stars of the HBO Max smash The Last of Us sent a shout-out to the Flames on Instagram.

Luna dropped by the Canadian Consulate in Los Angeles wearing a Flames t-shirt to break bread with Calgary Mayor Jyoti Gondek and other locals who were there promoting the city as a destination for film and television production during a busy stretch of Hollywood awards season that included the Emmy Awards, which shot-in-Alberta The Last of Us and Prey won nine.

“Of all the festivities of the last few weeks, one of my favourite events was the celebration the Canadian Consulate and Canadian Media Fund threw at “Canada’s House” here in LA,” Luna wrote on Instagram. He also gave a shout-out to Consul General Zaib Shaikh, Canada’s U.S. ambassador Kirsten Hillman and Gondek.

“Canada has become very close to my heart having shot TLOU in Calgary and FUBAR in Toronto,” Luna wrote, “and all my love and appreciation goes out to our incredible crews in the Great White North.

“And oh yeah,” he added. “Go Flames Go.”

These are the games that I hate. Win or lose I don't like the Flames playing the Oilers. Too stressful. Lots of PTSD from Oilers fans in my life... the last of whom I was able to finally cut out of my life.

Singh's been doing national PBP since 2009. I don't think you can call him inexperienced.

I don't think Singh is any more biased than most pbp guys, it's clearly just the company line from Rogers to hype of the Oilers

Singh is a massive Oilers fan and his entire family is as well.

He also really sucks at his job.

2016 doing English language.
1 game a week, and there's what, 25 Saturday nights a year?
Plus some playoffs?
So let's say he's done 200 NHL English language games?

Ball does 75+ a season, plus a round or two of playoffs and this is his 9th season with the Flames. Before that he was the Western late game for HNIC year or two. Combined with a year doing the Jets and some games with Vancouver, he's got to be close to 850 NHL games.

He's also started doing full time PBP 29 years ago with Kelowna Rockets. And called CFL too for BC. Singh I don't think had any level of PBP experience before the Punjabi broadcasts.

Most announcers at the NHL level have a ton more experience before they get the job, and get a lot more experience, while on the job, so it's not Singh's fault, but relatively speaking, he's inexperienced for a top NHL broadcaster. Monster Truck Michaels is terrible TV, but he has a long history of radio experience, but the McDavid Oilers factor allowed the Oilers to pick their commentators to make sure the coverage was under their control....remember when they had John Shannon on regional broadcasts, when he was only HNic before that.

Won't be watching this one. Rather go help a friend with a job, then watch McDickbag run around and act like a tough guy, then run away like the soy boy he is.

I'm more or less in the same boat. I'd rather spend Saturday night with my wife than watch this.

Maybe it'll be amaze-balls...but thats what Sportsnet replays are for.

I might watch some of it because I'm nothing if not a glutton for punishment. I am a Flames fan after-all.
