They have noticeably improved over the last 10 games.

Hoping Vladar is being packaged with someone in a trade soon so that Wolf can step in. Watching the Flames limit the Avs to 24 shots and still have a .875SV% is just not good enough.

PP QB is a glaring hole, rightly pointed out by Millen on the broadcast. Andersson is so deliberate moving the puck, IMO the pp struggles begin with him.
Hope in our trade returns we are targeting C and D prospects. Team has lacked a proper #1D since Gio left.

And, that is where the loss of Kylington has been so devastating. If he had been able to play this entire time, what kind of a player would he be today?

It's a shame Poirier got hurt because he might have gotten a look.

A lot of credit, I think, has to go to Huska (and the coaching staff - minus the PP) for this turn-around. Not a lot of posts referencing how Sutter wasn't the problem of late.

If not for Poirier's injury, we may already have had a solution here.

1 through 5 are New Jersey, Tampa, Rangers, Vancouver, and Toronto. The Oilers are 7th.
Arizona at 6 only means their young players might be better than you’re giving them credit for.
Nobody on Washington is elite anymore. Pittsburgh’s guys still are, so check back again at the end of the year.
You cannot have an elite powerplay with no elite players. I don’t know why you’d bother arguing otherwise.

Because it is already clear he wasn't the problem and it shouldn't need to repeatedly be pointed out.
Not sure the team being out of the play-offs right now is proving that wrong.

The pp (I hope) is mirroring the development of our overall play. Overall play was a disaster as they struggled with the structure. Eventually they learned to robotically execute the structure but it still wasn’t fluid. Now there is more fluidity and you can see decent execution.
I think the movement on the pp has improved the last couple of games. It’s still robotic and maintained to the outside. Hope they take the next step soon to develop some fluidity… as everyone has said, it would really be welcome.

It’s not impossible but it would be pretty anomalous.

Mack and Makar aren't the same age like the three you referenced. There's little chance Mack plays long enough to play 18 seasons with Makar. Makar will still have 4-5 years left on his contract when most of the current Avs are retired, Mack is 36 and they're going to be retooling or rebuilding. There's no basis that he would be taking less money here. And the Flames situation should be considerably better than the Avs unless they screw up the coming few years.

Agreed but trade value can't be high.. one game in 6 GP with a SP over .900 and that game was .903... and coming off a season witha .895 SP.

It’s undeniable that elite players would make a powerplay better. I’m just pushing back against the notion that Calgary can’t have an adequate powerplay with what they have (see Kraken).

Fun game to watch and I wasn’t expecting a win. The Avs are loaded with high end skill and when their compete level matches the Flames the goalie has to stand on his head

Each one of them hit the crossbar - could have been a different conversation.
And I think the effort was absolutely there, from both of them, last night

Good game, and a great effort by the Flames.
Remember when the Nucks were here, and the poor little things had to play a B2B, after a grueling 1 hour flight from VAN to CGY (with 2 days off prior to that)? And everyone, including Tocchet, whined about it, and blamed the loss on being tired?
The Flames just played a B2B against the 2 best teams in the west, with a 2.5 hour flight in between. They played 4 in 6 nights, going first to west coast (SEA), then all the way to NSH, then DAL and COL. On top of that, they have played 9 in 16 nights, which also includes another trip to the east. They have played more road games (14) than any other team, and only VAN has played 13.
Did the Flames complain? Did the Flames' coach complain? Did the Calgary media whine about it? Did the players whine? Did anyone use it as an excuse for the loss? Answer: no.
Instead, the Flames busted their asses, and dominated the Avs in the 2nd half of the game. And then they all - including the coach - took the loss with class.

In fairness YVR-YYC is 428 miles +1 hour. DFW-DEN is 641 miles -1 hour.

They said on HNIC last night that the flight is 2.5 hours. It is not 1 hour.
Regardless, the trip was 7,400 kms, and they travelled 14,000 kms for 9 games in 16 nights in 4 time zones. Ending with a grueling B2B.
And they played with heart and effort.

And Mangiapane is an odd target ... he's top 3-4 in pretty much any play driving metric over the last ten.
Wish he would finish more but questioning his work ethic is missing the mark.

according to Air Miles Calculator, it is 1 hour 45 minutes from DAL to DEN. So Hrudy was was way off.
Doesn't change that the Flames have been travelling a ridiculous amount so far
