Need a bare minimum, functional, nhl caliber PP to steal points in a tough back to back like that.
They weren't going to get away with doing it all 5 on 5 tonight. Colorado is also a high Corsi team so you can't run away with the play at even strength like against other teams.
Against good, suffocating teams you need to be able to cash in when they have less players on the ice than you.
Savard needs to sort this #### out or hit the road and give the reins to someone who knows how to strategize a PP that actually utilizes the strengths of our guys.
It's embarrassing right now.

Their entry into the zone during a PP is horrible. What happened to the drop back pass?

Haven't they still been doing the (very forced) bump back pass but just to a player not nearly as quick or shifty as gaudreau and as a result it's failing miserably?
I'd just dump and chase like 80% of the time since it's the only thing that seems to be working for them.
The east west passes between the center line and blue line on the rush is possession suicide for them.

I watched Wolf for the first time live today...the guy is unreal
holding out for a 4th for Vladar might not be worth it

A 4th? Would he clear waivers at 2x$2.2M?

This team so desperately needs players who can threaten the defense with speed.
Huberdeau’s pass was nice.

The team looked horrible defensively for the first dozen games while they were learning the new system. Then they started to get the hang of it.
I'll take a WAG and surmise that they are now practising a new power play, and they'll continue to look horrible until they get the hang of it.
Slinging the puck around the zone and counting on luck and talent won't get you anywhere in the long run, but in the short term it looks better than working on set plays you haven't learned yet.

I’d trade Markstrom for the cap space

Good effort. But for me it's clear that this team never have a chance to win a couple rounds even they are in playoffs.
Even we have some good players we don't have piece that better than others. Average offense, okay defense and average G. Bad PP, good PK.

Not even mad at all. The big scary Avs catch us on a back-to-back after we smashed Dallas. They beat us by 2, one goal being a goalie gaffe on a wraparound, the other a fluke shot. Flames deserved a better fate, carried the play in late second and third, made Avs look human.
- rookie inexperienced goalie looks good against the Flames? Shocking.
- Avs have the market cornered on big, dumb, dirty defensemen. Johnson, Manson. Manson is as dirty a POS as they come, always was, just like his old man. No talent, just cross-check, interfere and slash. But if our D try and clear the crease it’s two penalties.
Flames shouldn’t hang their heads.
- Coleman was amazing again

I think it's important for them to turn the page and allow the group that will be around long term to begin its journey of developing into what it will become one day
Running with the UFAs and soaking up the facade of playoffs has been fun but these guys aren't long for Calgary and there are spots still blocked from the next wave - mainly Wolf's.
We're watching a group that has an expiry dare fast approaching because of the impending departures. Shouldn't get too attached to it because the worst thing they could do is hang on to guys, not get a return, and bank it all on one (certainly doomed) attempt at just getting in.
The window was over summer of 22.

Disappointed in Dube and Mangiapane. They are being outworked and outplayed by our rookies. Not a good look.

Dube is a waste of roster spot, the puck dies on his stick 30 times a game, if nobody will give a pick for him waive him in hopes someone takes him for free and bring up Coronato or even Klapka.

Makar will be 29 in 3.5 years when he becomes a UFA.
Sanderson will be 29 in 8.5 years when he becomes a UFA.
I hope that’s not the Flames best plan.
