I'm glad to hear he's doing better, and hope that he is able to continue getting whatever help he needs during the season.
I also think it was good that the team supported him, not pushing his contract a year, etc. But I do think they should have been able to put him on LTIR. Mental health issues are health issues, and it doesn't seem fair to me to punish the team's cap situation because they did the right thing.
Given the equipment allergies/LTIRetirements this doesn't seem like a reach at all to me.

But I thought they could have put him on LTIR but didn't end up having a need to? LTIR isn't something you just use to open up cap space in case you need it. It allows you to exceed the cap by the injured player's cap hit.
So for example if the Flames became buyers at the deadline, where up against the cap and knew Kylington wasn't coming back, then they could put him on LTIR and bring in player that costs the same Kylingtons cap hit at the time.

A lot of people seem to think LTIR =
league salary cap of $80mil, team is at 75mil, $5mil player injured long term, place him on LTIR now our team cap went down to $70mil.

Precisely.
As for Kylington, I'm particularly glad to hear that he responded well to CBT. That's a great therapy for the particular conditions that it works for; I've been through it myself. It means there's a good chance he'll either make a full recovery, or at least be able to manage his condition well enough that he can function fully without undue distress. I wish him the best.

Hopefully got things sorted out, I think Kylington has a high ceiling. Lots of room to grow.

Excited to have him back.
The extended leave made it seem like that this may have been the issue.
Good to see the Flames treat him and mental illness the way they did.

I hope he is in the starting line-up on opening night and the crowd gives him a massive ovation.

Was it ever confirmed they COULD have put him on ltir if they wanted to? I understand you wouldn't use it unless you wanted to add something that would have otherwise put you over the cap.
So we know they didn't put him on LTIR and didn't add something (because obviously they couldn't exceed the cap). But given how "all-in" Tre went this season it doesn't seem impossible that he would have used that space if it was available to him.

I am pretty sure Treliving mentioned they could put him on LTIR but they couldn’t accrue cap space at the deadline if they were using LTIR to exceed the cap. If a slam dunk trade came along where the Flames would need to use LTIR to exceed the cap, they probably would have taken advantage of it.

So happy for him. He is being incredibly brave for such a young man. I'm extremely happy for him as OK the person, and I think it bodes well for OK the player. It may take some time to get back into a groove but I'm sure he'll get there. Whatever he had going on didn't just pop up last season. He's must have been dealing with this for a long time and still reached the level that he has.
Just in my own head when this all came about I thought something like this or drugs. Very happy that it wasn't the latter and he seems to be on a good path back.

Glad to hear he's doing better. Hopefully he can pick up where he left off and have a big year. Knowing the hype he once had you always hope he can get back to proving that potential.

I can't defend Trent but can we not talk about who's on your ignore list? This isn't high school, leave them on ignore all you want but please dispense with the gossip.

The Flames were given the go-ahead from the league to enact LTIR re: Kylington if they wanted to/needed to. They never needed to use the space, so they never enacted it.

You said something moronic, got called out for it. Apologize and move on. You’re the one making this difficult for yourself.

I think Trent gets the point, and if he doesn't, being the 15th guy to pile on him, isn't going to suddenly change that.

Especially when they mentioned they have suffered from mental illness in the past, as well. In a thread about supporting a player for admitting their mental health issues.
