Great Flame. And not just for being a wrecking ball on the ice with the occasional flash of hands, but because of his attitude and sportsmanship.
Wish he hit McDavid a couple more times. But he was the ONLY guy to lay him out without hesitation in the playoffs. Once he was over his buddy buddy feelings with his old teammates, he was over it and treated them like fair game.
Hope he enjoyed his time here enough to circle back after his career and work for the Flames in another capacity. We would be happy to have him.
Hope he is rejuvenated in Boston. That deal he took in Edmonton probably really weighed on him. He was beloved in Boston, probably well-liked in LA from what I could tell, and then was poorly thought of in Edmonton. He had a bit of a resurgence in Calgary, but that contract was still a heavy one, even with Edmonton paying some of it.
Now he can return to a place that he has his best hockey moments in, a place that really loved him, and at a contract that nobody is really going to complain about. It is probably a weight off his chest. Good for him, and i hope he enjoys his last years in the game.

I wonder how many free agents sign a contract and then wish they had taken less (money or term). This could be years of disdain from the fans. Roberto Luongo said as much, but there must be others. To quote Theo, "How many trucks do you need?"
It appears Conroy wanted to go in a different direction and open up spots on the roster for young players and IMO it’s the right direction for this organization.
If the youth aren't ready then you can easily sign a vet still looking for a job after training camp who may not push the needle but provide a steady presence while the young'uns develop in the A or jr.

Lucic has typically done well on new contracts, even in Edmonton.
