Pretty cool that Monahan is 9th in games played for the Flames.
The next closest active player after that is Andersson, who is 300 and some games behind him still.

History will look back at Sean Monahan favorably. 9th gp, 3rd in GWG, 8th in Goals. 11th in points. 9 years of service.

Not Mt Rushmore material, but lots to be proud of.

Thanks for the reference material, Gio, as I think it frankly helps the argument for both Kipper and Fleury.

To continue the discussion with dissentowner, I disagree. Kipper has all the Flames records on teams that were good, mostly because of Kipper. I think if you put Kipper on those bad Fleury teams, they are much, much better.

For me, it then comes down to MacInnis vs. Fleury. I have MacInnis ahead, only slightly, based on hockey only. His numbers are comparable, while playing defence and while winning a cup and a Conn Smythe.

He traded for Doug Gilmour, Joe Mullen, Lanny McDonald, Mike Bullard, Brad McCrimmon, John Tonelli, Carey Wilson, and others.

He deserves to be up there. Without Cliff, the Flames have no cup, no Lanny, no Fleury, no MacInnis, no Nieuwendyk, etc..

I don't see how Fleury gets ahead of MacInnis. MacInnis is very close to Fleury in points and games played, but did it as a defenseman and has the Flames' only Conn Smythe.

I also think Gio is close, maybe even ahead of Kiprusoff. Yeah Gio's not our best defenseman ever and Kipper is our best goalie, but ignore that and compare them on their individual merit. If Norris = Vezina, then it comes down to cup run participation vs. longevity and captaincy.

And secondly ...

Fleury or McDonald. These two are locks imo. Not having Fleury there would be utterly ridiculous just because he has alternative views on things politically. He is still possibly the most talented player to play for this franchise and there is a reason no player has ever chosen #14. The Mt Rushmore should be the players that most impacted the team, results on ice, and being an icon related to the team.

Suggesting those that vote differently are ridiculous might qualify as telling people how to vote.
