I’m not super worried about our #1 line or gaudreau but if we’re gonna go down that rabbit hole…

This is what Johnny looks like when the refs are calling a tight game and he has time and space. What’s it gonna look like when they put the whistles away and let ‘em play the way so many CPers have been clamouring for the last 4 nights?

Here is my angry overreaction. I’d rather lose now to Dallas then play like this and get our teeth kicked in by the Oilers.

And what a stinker. That was maybe the worst playoff game I have ever seen Calgary play.

AHL goalie would have shut us out tonight.
Did you forget about basically every other playoff game we’ve played the last 10 years? We got destroyed by Colorado and Dallas in our last two series.

We’ve been the better team through two, but need to do a better job of getting pucks and bodies to the front of the net. It’s a small adjustment needed, not a major overhaul.

We can be content with not being run out of the building, but the Flames should be dictating the pace in this series against the worst 5 on 5 team in the playoffs. Instead, you could barely tell we were the team down a goal with 5 minutes to play.

Every player looked off, but some more than others. It's no longer a coincidence.

Given how mentally weak this team has been in the last 3 years, I wouldn't be surprised if they don't win another game. You hope things will be different under Darryl, but through 120 minutes, you haven't seen it.

Enough of this "tight game that could have gone either way". It shouldn't be. Give this city a reason to get excited.

Don't do exactly what we feared you would.
The 5 on 5 play thing is probably the most alarming thing for me. We were dominant 5 on 5 all year, so if we're not getting it done there, we're not playing our game.

The Flames have made it out of the first round twice in 33 years. And one of those series victories was against the worst Pacific Division winner we've ever seen.

That might have been the worst game the Flames played all season including exhibition games.

Another positive: Markstrom looks absolutely solid as a rock, which is no small thing.

The last time Flames fans were truly any good was almost 20 years ago. To think that Flames fans are great is what the joke is, they actually are extremely entitled. Flames fans need to realize they are actually a part of the team and the effort. Weak effort and weak building. Maybe if the fans cheered a little more and were a bit louder etc. then the team may have had more juice. There actually have been legit scientific studies regarding the reality of home field advantage in sports, it is an actual phenomenon.

So you can sit there and say “wah wasn’t entertaining enough for me” but then we will perpetually watch first round exits. The reason 2004 was so special was because the fans truly brought the heat pun intended.

You know in a lot of ways, I’m not sure Calgary fans deserve the Flames to be perfectly honest. Might be the most entitled fans in the NHL.

Some Calgary fans, or certain Calgary fans, please don't lump us all into those.

So far this series is basically a defensive goaltender's battle.

Flames were the better team in the 2nd and 3rd and had the better scoring chances, but they didn't get enough traffic in front. I think they need to get in Oettinger's grill a bit more. Put some big bodies right in front, screen him more often, get some tip or two and get to those juicy rebounds he was giving up. The effort is certainly there. They just need to get into those dirty areas more.

They also need to figure out how to fight through Dallas' trap. They were really good at clogging everything up tonight, especially in the 1st and 2nd periods.

I don't know what the #### that was but it wasn't good.

Dallas just puts on extreme pressure on the puck carrier because nobody can make a pass or a play under duress. If anyone could actually make a play it would expose them by being out of position on a over commit.

I pray that going on the road allows them to get their #### straight and just relax and play their game to their abilities and they will easily finish this series 4-1. If they're still feeling panic, it's gonna be a long painful series.

I hate to say it but #13 and #19 had epic seasons, but so far it sure looks like they aren't able to be productive in playoff hockey, yet again.

Hopefully a loss is what shakes it off for them.

Game 1 vs Vancouver was a wake-up call for the '04 Flames. They rebounded nicely from that game to win 3 of the next 4 games. Hopefully a similar thing happens here.

Need a little puck luck, lots of potential tips and deflections the past two games but none have found the mark. Mangiapane had the one rebound chance but stuffed it into Oettinger’s pads.

Dallas has also blocked a lot of shots; someone mentioned screening the goalie but it doesn’t help if the shot doesn’t get through.I didn’t think Oettinger had to make any spectacular saves tonight; he was able to get in position for each shot and didn’t have to do too much after making the first save.
