Sutter needs to show this team how playoff offence works. Our top line has looked as ineffective as the entire playoff history of this iteration of the flames core. Pure perimeter hockey.

It should be a 0-0 game in OT but Hanafin was pretty bad, especially early on.
These players have demonstrated repeatedly that they cannot play playoff hockey.

Flames have been the clearly better team in both games IMO. Problem is in a game of few chances, you have to convert, and they didn't.

If this series was a track meet instead of a chess match, the Flames would win it handily. But by shutting down all the creative play, Dallas is going to force the Flames into a series of coin-flips.

Hopefully a trip away from Calgary and a bit less pressure has them loosen their grips on their sticks a bit. I'm not worried yet, but I'll be ticked if we're forced to watch 5 more games like that one if the Flames don't come out on top in the end.

Why would it be a tight series based on the regular season?

Flames were playing like crap tonight. Pretty much playing a perimeter game. Dallas either did a good job holding the Flames to the outside and their goalie playing unbelievable or the Flames are playing like they wanted a tied, long series. Still wished the Flames played the Preds instead.

NSH would have blown us out tonight 5 or 6-0.
The team was there for the last 2 periods and dominated the play. Oettinger was stopping everything and that was the difference in this game.

Tight? We scored one goal in 2 games it's almost impossible to do worse.

Kind of glad I missed most of this one being out of town. Last 10 mins were pretty frustrating, top line squeezing their sticks.

Dallas played a great road game. Flames played a weak home game. Sutter won't let this stand.

Tight series so far. Flames had the edge in play starting in the second but couldn't capitalize on their chances. Markstrom an absolute beast in net for the Flames and looks fantastic. I expect close games the rest of the way and if the Flames advance (I'm pretty certain they will), a weight is lifted off this team's shoulders and we see a team that much closer resembles what we saw in the season. It's a bit of nerves right now that's hovering over some guys.

Millen showed a few pretty good examples of how effective Dallas has been with clearing the front of the net. It's not for a lack of trying.

It’s not the fact that we’re tied 1-1. It’s that we’ve scored 1 goal in 2 games, and 0 at ES. Not sure why it comes as a surprise people are frustrated and nervous given this is our EXACT track record.

Swagger is the cure to what ails the Flames.

Either play worried and see Dallas' system as an obstacle and get beat, or look for opportunities and handle the puck like it can't be taken off you (and it won't be), and shoot like you can't miss the net (and you won't).

Time for Darryl to go team psychologist on these guys.

32 career playoff games and only 2 5v5 goals and 2 5v5 assists.

Onto game 3...
You’re not going to get much acquiescence from many. Most will do their best to ignore it.

You are 100% CORRECT, IMO.

BORING! Flames will still win the series. Dallas played their best game tonight but won’t be able to pull that off three more times. Flames scoring touch will return.

The overall system/structure was sound. But a very unenergetic effort and total lack of execution.

I was not expecting a sweep in this series but I sure wasn’t expecting to score only 1 goal in the first 2 games at home.

It's weird to me about the johnny talk. It seems to me Tkachuk is the guy on the line that has nothing going. Can't make a pass, falling down and not getting to the front of the net to tip pucks.

Our top line has been neutralized, but that isn't surprising that they would get the focus during the playoffs.

It's our secondary scoring vs their depth defence that will make the difference, and frankly, 35-goal scorer Mangiapane has been completely invisible.

At least you can see the top line doing stuff but less often and less effectively than the regular season. But the entire second line is just a massive black hole, nearly zero offensive chances of any kind.

Flames pissed away their home ice advantage by scoring 0 goals at even strength on home ice and only 1 PP goal.

It’s a problem.

Flames playoff history, never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity.

And what a stinker. That was maybe the worst playoff game I have ever seen Calgary play.

AHL goalie would have shut us out tonight.
