Compliment (its a fast shot, hard to stop!), but make them earn the title of best this or that. You're right though, that's why their fans are genuinely confused when they fall flat on their faces, they're fed BS constantly and are gaslit by the media game to game. You would guess the glass is 9/10ths full based on the commentary each game even though they're below .500.
I'm kind of glad the media gives the Flames a rough ride a lot of times, because it keeps us in check and probably motivates individual players when they're singled out.
#### being entitled. That's how you end up with a 2 man team with no defense or goaltending that's made the playoffs in 1/14 years.

I swung by the Edmonton reporters on twitter after the game, they're all declaring that Smith is the answer and how awesome he's going to be, and I'm like dude, its the Sens, its like playing the Southpark Peewee's you'd better win and going away, just like with the Nucks. Edmonton's got a sweet schedule to start, but they're going to get their heads caved in when the competition stiffens and Smith isn't the answer and Koskinen is committed and they have no more goalies etc for SKINNNER and his Steamed Hams skill set.

I almost feel bad for the guy getting pressured by the Edmonton media and then his own coach into getting his butt kicked, but then I remember who we are talking about and it just makes me laugh.

Oooooof.
@DarrenWHaynes
How soundly is Doug Wilson sleeping these days?
Erik Karlsson’s first 10 games:
- 0 goals
- 3 assists (2 secondary)
- Minus-6
- 38.3 SAT% (fourth-worst among players with 10 or more games)
He turns 31 in May and has six seasons after this one on a deal that pays him $11.5M AAV.

Really if Laine is ever going to live up to his full potential he's going to have to buy into a team game. I don't have any problem with this really.

If ever anyone is interested to see what true cap-mismanagement looks like, take a look at the top end of SJ's roster:
Logan Couture (31 yrs old): $8.0 m until 2027
Evander Kane (29 yrs old): $7.0 m until 2025
Eric Karlsson (30 yrs old): $11.5 m until 2027
Brent Burns (35 yrs old) $8.0 m until 2025
MA Vlassic (33 yrs old) $7.0 m until 2026
Martin Jones (31 yrs old) $5.75 m until 2024
Six players, $47.25 m of cap-space for a minimum of four years, by which point the youngest of this group will be 32-years-old.

Lazy. Caught standing in the circle watching his check
walk in and score amongst other things. Good call by Torts. Torts also demands that all his players block shots.

The last part is kind of stupid, but yes, if you set a standard for responsible play you kind of have to stick to it rather than give certain guys special treatment. Obviously that can backfire too, though, if guys are so afraid to screw up they never try anything.

Those guys never stick around very long in the NHL.

I wouldn’t even know where to begin dismantling that roster and try to recoup assets. I honestly think it’s going to have to go the other way with the Sharks unloading picks with contracts when the time comes. Could be some very, very lean years in San Jose.

If you listened to the Oilers call, Kassian destroyed Gudbranson. Must’ve hit him really hard with his face.

Was just thinking about that during the Coiler game when they mentioned Stutzle was the pick from that trade. SJ could have him now(along with Norris) instead of that gigantic anchor.

We use the term "blow it up" pretty casually these days but if there was ever an example of a roster that needs to be blown off the face of the earth this is it. That is astonishingly bad as the Sharks have no chance of rebuilding that roster until the back half of the decade.

I think Stutzle was Ottawa’s pick, I think the 5th pick which was the defenceman was San Jose’s
Nope I was wrong.

I wonder if they would sell a 50% retained Couture. Even then it's pretty nasty, I wouldnt give up that much of value for it lol.

I don't think the Kane contract is that bad.
I'd think about a Bennett, Ryan and Kylington for Evander Kane trade.
