Well unless we land a superstar goalie looks like we are going to be mediocre for some time.

Thats why I give the pass to BT. Tempered though by a long term deal he gave to Backlund which is already starting to smell with 4.5 years to go..
But after the 2nd line provided no support last year in the playoffs (and was on the ice for 3 of the 4 gwg against) BT tried to address that (and before the playoffs with Zucker).
He realized he needed to sell high on Janko and that ship has now long sailed.

I think the issue is more that they overplay Rittich. Why bring in Talbot and barely play him?

First game in a little while and I'm stunned that the officiating seems worse in person.

What happened on the Lucic breakaway? Looked like a clear hook or can opener. Lucic held his hands up and the ref yelled something at him.

They missed an obvious slash as well. Stick broken. How does that go uncalled?

I don't understand this grit, tenacity, truculent, physical based roster when it's not even part of the game plan.

lucic, tkatchuk, Bennett should be involved in every post whistle scrum against teams like the habs. Use this aspect to your advantage, it wears on a smaller team.

Hockey is getting kind of boring to watch. There's absolutely zero emotion in the game. I miss some on ice hate, some face washes, some fights. It was an element no other sport had.

He did make some saves that should be goals, but those weak ones are so much more deflating. Nowhere near Smith level at least, where he would be unbeatable then let in a dump in from center ice that barely had enough steam to make the goal line. Had it been a few minutes later in the period the extra snow on the ice would have done the job for him. Ah well, this years' Blue...err Flames just need to keep grinding along I guess.

Sure. Who wants a goalie that thinks he shouldn’t have had most of his goals?

That is behaviour typical of poisonous trash and suitable for relocation to Edmonton

Well in this case he is right, three bad goals. One really bad goal, not saying the team played great but they win the game with one routine save on a shot from the corner. In fact that goal changed the whole momentum of the game.

Flames are .500 last 10 games we should have passed the Oilers a few games back.

The laser off the post that won it? Could you even see the puck on the slow mo replay.

The puck didn’t go where his glove was.

Without getting in to the science, there is a reason that save percentages aren’t .976 over the course of a year.

In defence of Rittich he's played the most minutes of any goalie the guy is getting burnt out.
