Barkov - Games played 423 - Points 357 - PPG 0.843
Monahan - Games played - 483 - Points 370 - PPG 0.766
Give Barkov 60 more games and let's see who has more points..... and that wasn't even my point. My point is that Monahan isn't producing to near normal statistics compared to previous years.

Seems like both sides were mad about this one. Maybe that will coax some people off the ledge?

Good god he's out of touch.
I just caught a little of this. What was this about?

Also Flames score 5 and Johnny held off the scoresheet. Is that bad, or good? It’s definitely unusual.

"It's the last minute of game 7 of the Stanley Cup final. Everything is on the line. I'm on a breakaway. I lock eyes with the goalie. Shoot. Score. Horn. I did it. Sam Bennet skates over. "good shooting kid, you sure got the puck in deep". I smile shyly. "thanks" I reply, blushing. Sam Bennet tenderly removes my helmet and brushes my sweaty hair off my forehead. We lock eyes. His moustache quivers as if in anticipation. We both lean in. How will his moustache feel on my lips? I can't hold back anymore."

Oh my. The tension is palpable.

Monahan has more goals per game. Goals are better than assists, therefore Monahan is better.

Well, your point that Monahan “should be better” was in response to my post saying “shoulda buried that” is a silly post at the best of times, and that Monahan buries more than his fair share of them. Bob made a good save.

No one was comparing Monahan to Barkov until you decided that Barkov is the standard for number one centre. I’d be willing to bet Barkov gets shots that don’t go in too.

Monahan is a number one centre in the NHL. Is he a dangler, does he make fancy plays? No. I don’t really care. He plays a smart, effective game and he’s been a really consistent player for years.

Monahan has looked great often this season with the physical play, the strong play up the middle, the willingness to attack; I'm optimistic about his game.

He was only the standard for a number one centre because he was who we were playing against at the time. Monahan has 2 goals right now, 2..... is that where you would expect him to be?

I don't disagree that he has had more of an edge to his game this year. I just wish the numbers were still there as well, hopefully he will pick it up in the stat department.

Flames 6 Panthers 5 (SO)

- Both goalies give up 5 on 20 something shots
- Tkachuk scores two goals
- Third line ties it up (Bennett)
- Flames better in the dot
- Calgary dominates the shoot out

They entered the third like world beaters, completely dominating every aspect of the game, then just let themselves slide into oblivion, only to get back to life on a hail mary and finally crush the Panthers in the shootout. I'll take it, but it's very not sustainable. Shutting the game down after getting on top in the third was one of the thing the Flames did best last year. It's time to get back to that. On the other hand there has been a bunch of weird, high scoring games against the Panthers of the last couple of seasons. A win anyway, onto the next one!
