Has to be Rittich in the heritage classic.

Need to show faith in him to not trash his confidence, especially since he got special pads and stuff made for the game

This. Anyway, lets say Monahan isn’t as good (though he has more career points). That puts him at worst in third place in his draft year, after being drafted 6th. By a long shot.

Geez why dont we just trade Monahan for Barkov then, so simple!

I hope Czarnik is okay. He's been playing his best hockey as a Flame in recent games. They need him to keep going at that clip.

Should have held on to Hanowski for just this occasion.

Rittich. He’s our starter he let in some weak ones. He readjusted and closed the door. We don’t need the dueling goaltenders drama again.

I'm not saying Monahan is a bad player, I'm saying he hasn't produced so far this year. He is usually close to a point per game and can be counted on for 30 goals or so. Right now he's on pace for half of that and about 47 points.

Derek Wills thinks tonight is a Brass Bonanza night. Denegrades fans for disagreeing.

Good god he's out of touch.

So Monahan isn’t quite as good as Barkov - big surprise. Look at the draft position of the three best players each team put out for the start of overtime - Florida had to suck big time to get those players -a first, second and third overall. The Flames iced a 6th overall, fourth rounder and an undrafted player.

Default Flames beat Panthers 6-5 (SO)

Very odd and wild game. Tkachuk looked great but also had moments of defensive lapses. Third line looked solid all night, first lines needs to up the gears but it’s early days. Glad they got the win but Peters needs to get the teams defensive game in order

Quite the game. Love the jam from Mangiapane, the guy is fearless out there. Sucks to see Czarnik get injured — he looked good out there as well.

Wasn’t sad to see Janko and Lucic stapled to the bench in the third (I’m not sure they even saw the ice). Lucic had at 3-4 giveaways and Janko has been soft all season. -2 tonight.

Flames PP looked much better and were unlucky not to convert. I doubted Bennett on the third line but he kept at it and fluttered one in. Those are the kinds of goals he’s going to score so I’m glad he got one tonight, it was a big one.

Question of the night: did Tkachuk get a hat trick tonight? Saw one hat tossed right after he scored (but it only made it to the bench), another two were tossed after Rittich made his second save (one actually made it to ice level)... I don’t think Tkachuk gets credit for a goal even though he scored the last one in the shootout — so do you toss the hat or not?

EDIT: Nevermind — it looks Monahan got “credited” for the SO winner: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...0/GS020153.HTM

I agree, the flames have drafted well with the picks that they have had and my point isn't that Barkov is better. It's that Monahan hasn't produced as much as he usually does. If or when he starts producing the way he can again, the flames will be more dangerous and win more games because of it.
