Drai plays the wing and can't score without McDavid

Guess it's time to update this info.
Monahan was drafted in 2013.
Monahan has 169 career NHL goals.
Players drafted in 2013 with more goals - 0
Players drafted in 2012 with more goals - 0
Players drafted in 2011 with more goals - 2 - Landeskog (176) & Kucherov (185)
Players drafted in 2010 with more goals - 4 - Seguin (260), Skinner (241), Tarasenko (207) & Hall (202).
Heck, let's go back to drafted in 2009 - 4 - Tavares (317), Duchene (231), E. Kane (214) & O'Reilly (182).
Sure, let's add on drafted in 2008 - 3 - Stamkos (389), Eberle (205) & Atkinson (184).
(There are only 8 who were drafted in 2007 who have more...)
So, of the last 2,331 players drafted in the NHL, (2008 to and including 2018), 13 of them have more goals than Sean Monahan. 13. Thir-####ing-teen
Of those 2,331 players 1,059 of them were drafted before Sean Monahan.
Since the start of the 2013-2014 season, being when he was drafted into the NHL, he has the 15th most goals.
The 7th most for a centre.

Is Francis sure he's injured and not just a heartless passenger that doesn't hate to lose enough?

Monahan was quite good earlier this year, he looked great on his own.
He has looked awful for a while now, but I can't see the Flames winning a trade with him involved. His contract is too good.
He's still a young player, hopefully as he gets older he'll find ways to get through these major slumps more quickly.

Last year Francis assumed he wasn't hurt and he was. So his opinion on this is not very important to me. It's obvious he isn't that hooked in at the player level.

He's like a striker in soccer, he can just disappear for 88 minutes and then, Boom, outta nowhere he scores the winning goal.
But when the games tighten up, a guy who is 6'2" 200lbs should certainly be able to throw his weight around and use his size advantage a bit more than he currently does.

I feel his size/body should be able to shield the puck a lot better. He should be able to fend or bump guys off him when he has the puck.

Except he's typically in the slot, so there's defenders on each side.

All this talk of Monahan not being a #1..
How many 70pt 2nd line C are there in the league?..two if you count Malkin and Point who have #1 C talent.
Monahan is a #1 center, there is no debate in that.
The problem is we don't really have another guy we can slot in to insulate him when he is struggling outside of Backlund who is more of a shutdown center.
Maybe roll with Lindholm at center for a bit and see how that works:
Gaudreau-Lindholm-Neal
Tkachuk-Monahan-Czarnik
Bennett-Backlund-Frolik
Mangiapane-Ryan-Hathaway
Jankowski has 2pts in his last 15 games, in case we wanted to complain more about our center ice production.

IIRC, before the season started I said my bar for success was six playoff games won.
I think I'll upgrade that to seven wins.
Anything less is a disappointment. Anything more is gravy.

I strongly believe that for good teams to become great (championship) teams they have to find their way through this stuff. They all go through it...even the mighty Oilers and Flames of the '80's had to take a couple shots to the mouth before getting over the hump.
Almost all recent winners had to figure it out the hard way...even Pittsburgh with the new round of players prior to the last two wins. Tampa has been through the meat grinder and they know how to keep the pedal down now.
Flames are probably banking on Neal, Smith, Frolik, Gio to help lead these younger guys through it. We will see if they can get over the hump this, realistically, is the first time through with expectations. I don't think they are willfully staying in Neutral....they have to figure out how to become closers against desperate teams at a time of year when they are pretty much set. Carry that into the playoffs.
I am cheering hard but they need to find the next gear...Gio has it, arguing that Frolik and Smith have picked it up. We will see if the rest are ready to graduate.

There is no "all this talk". There's one idiot that everyone just needs to ignore.

Exactly! And for the love of God, please, please, please don't quote him, ever since I put him on ignore, it's much, much more enjoyable reading whatever thread.

Do everyone a favour and go cheer for them
Love has stated previously he would rather watch the Carolina Hurricanes over the Flames. I have the screen shot to prove it. He’s a troll, nothing more.
