And I know what you meant, thanks for the reminder though. I got distracted by F1 this morning, then hit my usual stuff. Built a playlist and working through it. No thanks to you who didn't give me 6 songs!

While My Guitar Gently Weeps - good stuff, though pretty familiar with it. The type of Beetles song I can listen to and say, ya, that's good stuff.

Got to Get you Into my Life - The type of song I could listen to as part of a mix with other artists and enjoy it. As one in a group of Beetles songs? I'd probably hit skip.

A Day in the Life - great start and middle, up to where it falls apart. Ugh. Would have been fine ending at 4:30, but it just goes on....

I'm Looking Through You - Similar opinion as Got to Get you Into my Life

Tomorrow Never Knows - Great stuff. I was perhaps subconsciously aware that the Chemical Brothers had used a lot of this, but it mostly makes me want to listen to more Chemical Brothers, not Beatles.

Come Together - It's fine. Heard it many times, probably by the end of it I'm ready to find a new genre.

I'm not sure this shifted my ability to listen to more than 6 Beatles songs in a row though. I appreciate the effort! Now then, time for some Chemical Brothers...

I was quite surprised to learn when they broke up they only ever made four albums.

Makes it a lot cheaper to collect it all on vinyl.

Irritating.
That's fair. Excision/Datsik et al gave the genre a bad name.

Give Ganja White Night a listen.

Haha! Nope nope nope. I tried about 7 tracks, and they all irritate me. And apologies for doing this in the Beatles thread, but hey, it's conversation. I'll hide it behind spoilers.

Spoiler!

What do you think of these:

There's no screeching synths or wubwubs (ok, there's some in the second song).

The second one lost me at 1 minute.

The first sounds like something between D&B and Dub. I'm not sure I'd call it dubstep in any way. It's missing the characteristic pieces of that. Same with the third, sounds like late 90's D&B, blended with something I can't really put my finger on, but both of those are types of tracks I used to listen to. I don't think they have anything special going on, just something I'd hear in a mix.

That's dubstep, at least in its original form. It became the crazy Skrillex garbage later. I'll stop trying to convince you that it's not all bad now so we can stop derailing this thread.

I never saw any connection with the brilliance of a Lee Perry or King Tubby mix to anything ever labeled dubstep, frankly I'm with fuzz on this one

The great thing about this world is we can all have different tastes, which gives plenty of variety. Obviously my taste is better, but that's just how it is.
