OK, first order was in 2008 (for books, of all things):

Refactoring: Improving the Design of Existing Code
Martin Fowler (Author), et al

Learning Python
Mark Lutz (Author)

Interesting to look at how often I have used Amazon.ca since.
  • 2008 - 1 order (books)
  • 2009 - 1 order (book)
  • 2010 - 1 order (books)
  • 2011 - 0 orders (saving money or something, or quit reading for a year)
  • 2012 - 1 order (books, again)
  • 2013 - 1 order
  • 2014 - 15 orders (some books, but electronics and housewares too)
  • 2015 - 25 orders (buy everything online!)
  • 2016 - 11 (a lot of electronics)
  • 2017 - 22 (first year having prime)

She was really more of a dominatrix than an amazon.

My first order happened the moment I heard Amazon.ca was launched:

  • The Mist is now out of print, but $58.38 (aftermarket)
  • Maximum Warp is OOP, but $26.54 (aftermarket)
  • That particular copy of Nightmare Before Christmas is $81.31 (plus $19.15 - haha, no.)
  • And that particular Stargate is $62.50 on the aftermarket

Second order:

  • The White Goblin is now: $166 on the aftermarket
  • The Rainbow Goblins: $31.22
  • Robin Williams Live: $47.10

I have them all (except Robin Williams, which was a gift as I recall.)

That's impressive. I thought we use it a lot, we had 81 orders in 2017. That's an order arriving every three days.

I love Amazon. My most recent order was this:

It's the water valve system for my fridge. I have used a Canadian discount appliance parts site for the better part of a decade but this part was half the price on Amazon. Really surprised I could find it on there and I get what people are saying about handing Amazon all your business over local companies but C'mon. Half price?

Same thing for Christmas. Lego set on sale at toys r us, still cheaper on Amazon. We bought something on the Toy R Us site for Christmas and it came Purolator. We have a no signature required sticker on our door and I was home at the time. The guy rang the bell and immediately put a pre-filled out missed delivery tag on the door, turned around and went back to his car with the package. It's a video doorbell dumbass and I was home. The tag said to come pick up the package at the depot and Toys R Us is between my home and the depot. I would pass Toys R Us to get to my online purchase.

Amazon packages are always on my doorstep or at the Pharmasave down the street if a signature is required.

Jesus...that is a lot of packaging. Impressive. I think I would struggle to find 300 things that I could use.

I've started to feel a little guilty about having <$20 items delivered to my door by some guy in his personal 2002 Corolla, getting paid 50 cents per delivery, from which he pays for gas and maintenance on his car. I can't wait for drone deliveries.
