IMO this almost hands a spot to Hathaway. Clearly helps Hamilton get into the lineup more regularly as well

Loved his shot blocking, just wish he could time a hit. He must've hit the boards 5 times for every time he hit a player.

My hope is that this is Stone money. I love our forward group and think that young players may flourish if we leave that spot. If there is not a built-in role for Janko this year, I will be disappointed. The 2 spots for kids on D need a stabilizing force. Stone makes perfect sense for this, letting Wotherspoon, Kulak, and Kylington to fight for D6 and Murphy, Bartkowski, and Anderson to fight for D7.

Not Murphy. And probably not Kylington this year (but Anderson will make a push).

This makes sense, but they sent Bollig down last year apparently without any qualms. Bollig has more of a veteran presence though; perhaps they don't see Bouma in the same light?

That said, the 2015 playoffs don't happen without Bouma so for that he'll always be in my good books.

"Thanks Lance."

Get him done so he can get to another organization now and get on with his career?
A little bit of both. I am sure they want him to sign somehwere right away hopefully in the East then at the same time they needed a spot in case they wanted to sign someone else.

I like Bouma and he's such a hard worker and not afraid to put his body on the line. Unfortunately he is taking a spot from some young guys right now that could probably do his job or better.

Good luck on Lance Bouma. I hope he continues his career somewhere in the East.

Good luck Booms. You laid your body on the line for your team. Hope you can continue your career!

Sucks for the guy, but Bouma did make a lot of money off a fluke season and rookie GM. I hope he lands somewhere.

I'd say the Flames aren't willing to take any passengers this season...but we still have one.

Please turn it around Troy!!

Or Stone / another #5 vet that can play up.

I'm hoping Stone and one of the RW FAs.

With Foo and Versteeg signed, there is no spots for Bouma. The cap hit of like 750k for this and next season is alright, it would be just like an entry level contract not working out.

Does anyone else seem to notice a change in how things are being run in Flames hockey ops front office?

Bouma was a warrior. But his game fit Hartley's 'circle the wagons' approach much more than Gulutzan's style. And the hand injury didn't help.

All good - he played hard, and got paid. Best of luck to ya!

Room now for a #5 D AND a free agent forward!

Maybe lends some credence to the rumour that Treliving was ONLY going to re-up if he had more autonomy.

IMO, all these moves now scream Treliving instead of Tre/King/Burke

Perhaps BT is finally allowed to do his job without having to answer to KK and the owners.

The rapidity, volume and decisiveness of the deals is uncharacteristic.

Essentially, no more wanting to trade a player, having to ask Burke, then asking Ken and then getting Murray's final OK.

Love it.

Have been told the #Canucks are showing interest in former Vancouver Giant F Lance Bouma who was bought out by Calgary this morning.
