That's a pretty sweet D core on paper, and all but Gio are 27 or younger.

I was apprehensive about trading a first rounder for an established player given that I don't think we're at the point in the rebuild that we should be giving up futures for presents. However this will give the Flames a top 4 D corps that's as good as anyone in the league, hopefully elevating us into our legit contender window. Love that the Oilers didn't get him and that he has smaller cap hit that Russell  . Return will be interesting.

I don't think there is a realistic chance of the Flames re-signing Stone. There is already so much money tied up in the top 4 and Stone is going to be looking for term and salary that I don't think is available now.
