I'd put a lot of money on Toews getting into the HOF.

Ah yes, shootout skills!
He will certainly make the HOF but that just shows more of the old school mentality that the writers who vote for it favor, rather than his actually skills.

No offense, but you are completely off the mark here. He will be in the HHOF if he retires tomorrow.
The HHOF ain't Cooperstown, but that's another debate.

It drives me nuts when people sluff off championships as meaningless when discussing a player's value. He wasn't a 7th d-man or a 4th line winger. He was the #1C and team Captain for three Stanley Cups and won the playoff MVP for one of them.

What's mind boggling is that someone can't see the difference between saying
"I feel Toews is over rated"
and
"[Toews is the] most over rated player in history."
It's the wild, gross over-exaggerations that derail threads and just make such posts atrocious to read.
No issue with "hey, Gio is our captain and embelishes sometimes"... but no, it's got to be "Gio is one of the biggest divers in the league"
Just cringe-worthy bad.

Toews is overrated in the sense that some people believe he's on the same level as Crosby. He's not. He's still elite and a fantastic player, but he's a step down from Sid.

GoJetsGo put me on ignore. You're constantly in arguments with people on this board and all you do is whine and cry while never giving your opinion.
if I'm an awful poster as you claim, you're just as bad. You literally only whine and complain and never contribute anything positive. Your whole existence on this board is to belittle other posters. If you have a problem with the way I post then simply PM a mod or report the post. I will post my opinion whether you like it or not and yes I do feel Toews is the most over rated player in the game and if you followed hockey as close as I do then you'd realize this isn't anything far fetched.
Follow threads on other boards where the most overrated questions come up. Toews is always the front runner in that category.

Maybe, but I very much doubt it - his counting stats wouldn't warrant it (he doesn't even have 600 points). His scoring rate, which is what got guys like Bure and Lindros in, aren't there either - he's not even in the top ten of active players. Those things are important to HHOF voters, not just team success.
That being said, I was actually talking about what I personally would value in putting someone in the HHOF, not what is actually likely to happen. I think you're probably right that by the end of his career he's in a place where he's more likely than not to get in, but that's because while HHOF voters value other things than just team success, they still value things like cup wins much, much more than I do. As far as I'm concerned I'd induct Joe Thornton ten times before Toews.
None of which is to say that Toews isn't a fantastic player, of course, because he is. I don't want this to come off like I'm running him down - the context of this discussion is where he sits among the best ever to play the game.

If you don't like having your sensationalized statements critiqued, think before you post. It's not that difficult.
There's no point in putting you on ignore because the outlandish nature of your posts sees them quoted multiple times over as people point out how sensationalized and outrageous they are. You also made quite the production of informing everyone you had me on ignore, and it's quite obvious how well that's worked out for you, obviously hitting "view post" every time.
As I very clearly said above, it's possible to get a point across without adding personifiers like "the most _____ EVER" at the end. The list of people here put off by it grows every time you post. You should expect the kind of replies that followed on the last few pages if you can't help but over-dramatize everything you say.

I'll keep posting the way I do. Thousands of posts and no infractions so I guess I'm not breaking any rules.
You, on the other hand, whine and complain and add nothing and contribute literally nothing. I like the way I post and if it bothers you so much then maybe you need to be less bothered by the way people post. You seem to have anger issues. If it was a drinking game for everytime you use a rolling eye emoticon we'd all be constantly drunk. Maybe stop critiquing and be a better poster yourself before you try to make others better.

You can continue to accuse me of whining all you want. It's not whining to point out calling Giordano "the biggest diver in the league" or Toews "the most over-rated player in history" - are egregious statements.
If I see something like that, I'll comment on it all I want. You don't get to say outlandish things and then complain about how they're received.
You're simply angry you're being called out on absolute dramatics and are trying to deflect by calling me angry or whining. It's not going to work. You're the one who's put me on ignore and then not ignored me and sent me messages. If anyone's angry, it's you.

There are HOFers and great players who never made team Canada, such as Francis and Oates. Being selected to the best team in the world is a trophy in itself, never mind earning a gold

Hey it works for me. I point and laugh and keep carelessly scrolling onwards... much page space saved.
Maybe I'm just under that impression because I'm in web development?

Wow, blogger writes piece suggesting that the NHL is pandering to black fans and that Subban, Okposo, Simmonds, and Jones don't deserve to go to the all star game and are only being included because they are black...
The Puck Stops Here blog has been removed from Kukla's Korner, but screenshots of his blog can be found here:

Who even thinks about these things? What a non-starter
For this blogger's mind to even go there suggests the issue is with him

Good points.
I revisited some scoring stats for HHOF inductees and I see that I underestimated the scoring totals, so fair play on him maybe not getting in as is, but he is still very young for a player of his caliber. All good.
As to the bold, I'd put him in the top 100 easy.

Black for Pacific Division. NHL.com doesn't have the customization option yet. Wonder what font/number colors will be on the jersey. My guess is silver/gray:

True. I can think of maybe 3-4 players I'd pay 10 or more.
