Not to mention our captain is one of the biggest divers in the league and we still cheered him on during his All-Star appearance.

I know it's hard to admit Flame players dive but Gio has been a diver since his first year here. Other players aside from Canucks and Oilers do dive and we have a few that routinely do and embellish a lot.
Saying a player dives so they shouldn't represent the NHL at an all star game is ludicrous. Kesler dives, Gio dives, and Gaudreau embellishes and we will still cheer our own players at the all star game.

"One of the biggest divers in the league"???
lol. Just another brutal, over-dramatized and over-stated post in a long line of many from the same poster.

Gio dives sometimes no doubt, but Ive seen #97 dive more in his 80-some games than Gio in his whole career.

Agree with this. Toews has won a Conn Smythe.

I'll have you know that Rostislav Klesla was not a diver.

Gaudreau is good for the Allstars game especially the newer format. He is a great representative for the Flames.
No issues that Backlund wasn't chosen. Backs has been really good but sending him over Johnny no way. 27 pts in 43 games vs Gaudreau 27 pts in 33 games.
Not to mention Gaudreau is an electric player.

Sadly Gio is good for a few dives every year, but "one of the biggest divers"? Come on now.
Not even one of the biggest divers in the province

Barring injury, he'll most-likely max out his 4 bonuses anyways.

Toews might not be overrated so badly anymore, but there was a time not long ago when articles were being written about how he was better than Crosby. that was peak OR-Toews.
I've always preferred Kopitar myself, but he's struggling just as much if not more offensively this year. I think Backlund is beating those guys at their own game right now.

I was suggesting that it puts him in the top 100 all-time. If you look at the list of Conn Smythe winners very few wouldn't qualify.

Yeah, I swear some don't know what overrated means and think it means they're a bad player.
Toews is a real good player and someone you can win with but as others have said even in his prime some thought he was better than Crosby and was the best player in the world. He was very over rated and still is. Him going to the All star game this season is a joke and is laughable especially when 5 players on his own team deserve it more.
I'd love Toews on my team, but I still think he's over rated. Look no further than his salary. It's like a $3 million dollar over payment every single season.

All team awards. Not that Toews doesn't play a huge role on the teams that won, but you simply cannot attribute these to him as personal accolades.
Yep, fair enough.
Total BS award.

All pretty meaningless.
I agree with you that he's not overrated (though in the period during which he was being compared to Crosby he sure was) but most of these are team achievements. He's a great player, but for me, not yet someone I'd consider a surefire future hall of famer.

5 of those Championships are simply because he was born Canadian..
He is a pretty good player but intangibles don't make him a top flight player IMO.

Yeah, his World Junior wins were just because he was on the team. He didn't really play a big factor in the result.
Crosby made a point of ensuring Toews was OK with Crosby being captain. hat says something to me.
I'd put a lot of money on Toews getting into the HOF.
