this is a team that hadn't been successful in the playoffs, or even getting to the playoffs.. yet they were 1 year away from being a contender to win the big prize?

pfft.

people need to get a grip. Yea it's been a bad start, but when the entire team is playing like garbage, it's not a good time to label anyone as a whipping boy aside from the coaching staff -- and that isn't changing anytime soon.

Yes and no IMO. Wins are better than losses and this team needs to figure things out. But I'm not sure momentum carries from one season into the next. This team had a horrible training camp and several players have shown a propensity to start seasons slow. Playing better when the pressure is off doesn't show team has learned right lessons around those things.

But playing better would certainly help the trade value of some of these guys, so long as that doesn't extend to Treliving overpaying on any contract extensions.

I think the people who are "panicking" the most are the same people who predicted the Flames would be kicking ass.
I had hoped the Flames would improve on last season and land outside the bottom ten. I still don't think this is unreasonable. Any progress from last season will be a positive result.
Lets be honest with ourselves, the Flames struggling in the first 20 games should not be a surprise.
