What if this happens, and then the 5th last team wins the 1st overall lottery and the 6th last team wins the 2nd overall lottery?
Flames will pick where they pick. And a good player will be available at any spot they can end up.

No. They don't really.
The Flames will be fine regardless of who they draft this year. This team is a top-ten scoring team in the NHL for the second year in a row, and they still have another elite-level forward who has no where near approached his potential yet.
A big scoring winger who can step right into the NHL next year would be terrific for the Flames, but its not like they are not already one of the best offensive teams in the League.

This team has a Finn and he's 7-3-3 in his last 13 (107 point pace)

Right, and they got one at the trade deadline. Jokipakka has looked pretty decent.

They've always play californian teams well, or at least close. I don't know how they do it either. But some teams have a knack/effective game plan for certain others.

I actually couldn't agree more.
I feel like at a certain point they should cut off the bottom 5 teams and make them play for the odds of drafting high.
Hopefully the gods of hockey take note of what's happening. Edmonton has been awarded about 3 times too many and already tarnished the careers of some of those picks. It's time other teams gets rewarded.

The Sedins have been traditionally good against teams that try to outmuscle them (2011 Bruins aside). It's why the Flames struggled against them in the post-Naslund/Bertuzzi era. They chose to defend with regehr and sarich instead of phaneuf and hamrlik (example). Flames have had better success with GIO/Brodie, who are more finesse than power.

1 recall left. Although we can't really use it on a forward because then we'd immediately have to send one of the emergency guys back so it wouldn't accomplish anything. Do the Flames keep Shinkaruk and Shore up for the last game or do they rotate the forwards again?
Do the Flames use their last recall on Wotherspoon or Kulak for one last game and rest a vet?
MIN has already clinched so the Flames don't need to worry about affecting playoff implications. Which means they are free to play the heck out of the kids this last game if they want.

Ok. And what if the top 3 were the worst team in the standings? I mean if we're going to play "what if", mine is the more likely outcome.

I vote Wotherspoon. Waiver elgible, and decision needs to be made to let go of a vet or not. Possible buyout determination.

I know people are high on the Flames offense, but for some reason the Flames only kicked it into gear when they were out of a playoff spot. They couldn't buy a goal to start the year.

I'm quite sure, correct me if I'm wrong, the Flames have been top half of the league in scoring all year. That's without all of the 6 on 5 magic of last season.
They have had dry stretches, but as a whole, no complaints offensively. I still want better though.

If it was me, Turner Elson would be my pick.
He's done a lot for Stockton and Adirondack and I think it would be great to reward him with an NHL game.

I want to see Sieloff too, the kid was so close to making this team and that infection really set him back.

I think the lowest they got was 17th in the NHL, They're top 10 after tonight with that blowout.
Offense is not the problem with this team.
PK and goaltending are the main on ice issues.

Yes, they're tied with Florida for 8th. I give Calgary the tie breaker though because less of the Flames' goals were empty netters.
