Maybe we should name a white collar prison after Chretien.
Or a porta potty factory after Pierre Trudeau
Or a box factory after Martin.
Or a vanilla ice cream dairy farm after Clark
come on guys, this joke is getting old and incredibly stupid.

So 5-10 years it should be done. As for what an airport is reasonable and has some consistency across Canada with Pearson, diefenbaker, and Trudeau.

Just as many that are named for someone other than a PM:
Halifax Stanfield (Premier)
Quebec City Jean Lesage (premier)
Winnipeg James Richardson (Businessman)

We should definitely look at renaming something like our airport, a hospital, national/provincial park, high school after Harper. He just lost election last week so should wait a few more years. He was long serving over 3 elections and still remains popular in Alberta and Calgary.
On top of my head Pearson has a high school here in Calgary. I am sure there are more across Canada. Lougheed being a popular premier has a hospital and provincial park. Klein has a park in Calgary. Why not Harper.

Well to start, the three individuals that you use as examples are dead, Harper is not. Posthumously, there would be a great deal less resistance to this, I would guess.

Not sure about Pearson but Klein and Lougheed were still alive when those things were named after them. Lougheed Hospital opened in 1988.
Too early to name anything after Harper IMO but he certainly doesn't need to be dead first.

Toronto was renamed for Pearson 12 years after he died. A lot of people in the industry or otherwise simply call the airport "Pearson" as opposed to Montreal which I don't often hear people call Trudeau. I certainly don't.

In fact, Peter Lougheed died at Peter Lougheed Hospital.

Honest question: Why don't airports sell their naming rights? McDonald's Calgary International Airport might not roll off of the tongue nicely, but if it helped alleviate costs passed on to travelers, it would make a ton of sense. Everything can be monetized - terminal A can become the Starbucks Terminal, B the Burger King terminal and so on. I would imagine there would be some demand from companies if they were able to provide sponsorship.

I'm not an expert but I'd assume that the name Calgary International Airport or McCall International Airport would be the Airport Authority's brand and they want to keep that strong. Similar to how the Flames are okay with getting a sponsor for the Saddledome but would hesitate to become the Scotiabank Flames of Calgary. The terminals on the other hand could be up for grabs but that would have to be weighted against ease of wayfinding.
