This is far too early to consider. Let a few years pass and let people ponder his legacy more. I think after a few years even the lefties might not be so hostile once they see it in retrospect and with the benefit of seeing how Trudeau does-- its a tough gig.
As for naming the Airport after Lougheed or Klein or some other provincial personality, I disagree. This is a federal work. If it gets named someone, it should be someone of national stature. Besides, Lougheed and Klein have plenty of things named after them already.

I'd rather fly in to Edmonton and drive down HW2 in a convertible with the top down in the worst blizzard in living memory than fly in to anything called 'Stephen Harper International'.

I would be down for naming our Airport after Harper in 4 years when all the haters see that the country is in debt for the next 20 years.

This makes me hope that they do change the name just to see if you'll live up to your promise.

If you supply the convertible, I'll make it a promise.
Here's hoping they don't re-name it before March 25.

Jonathan Toews first passed in 2007-2008, when he ended his rookie season with 30 assists. So really, he was eligible in 2012.

If anything we should officially name it after Fred Mccall, which was the origainal name for the airport anyhow and who is a much more deserving namesake. While we're at it they should rename Edmonton's too, bot after aviation pioneers or heros who have connections to the area:
Calgary (Fred) Mccall International Airport
Edmonton Wop May International Airport
|
This. The McCall name has history with the preson itself, and the land the airport is on. Much more appropriate to name it McCall-Calgary International Airport if it's going to be named after anyone at all.

I like the idea of naming something prominent in Calgary after the prime minister. I think waiting until after the current cohort of politicians is through is appropriate though.
So 5-10 years it should be done. As for what an airport is reasonableand has some consistency across Canada with Pearson, diefenbaker, and Trudeau.

And suddenly with the name change, Calgary Airport Authority loses all records of inbound and outbound flights, tracking of people's luggage, and flagged history for visitors in secondary. All flight apps don't work on smartphones since it can't find any data.
And the blizzard outside that's whipping snow with zero visibility and covering planes in ice? Didn't happen. Climate doesn't change like that.

Based on the comments in this thread (and the other politics threads) you would think Harper is personally responsible for global warming, ISIS & communism.

In all seriousness watching the news made it crystal clear which Calgarian the Calgary International should be named after (if any) let's call it the "Kenneth Taylor International Airport".

On second thoughts, Calgary SHIA has a certain ring to it.
