Given the number of Teslas sold it appears 99% of gas powered vehicle drivers are looking to buy a gas power vehicle as their next vehicle. (no math or science was done in the preparation of those numbers)
Your comparison of electric car loyalty vs brand loyalty is bupkis science at best, completely different motivations behind purchasing decisions there.
Don't get me wrong electric cars are the way of the future and if i needed a daily driver for my personal life I'd look into them(though i think they'd be out of my price range). I rent cars for long road trips anyways so having a electric wouldn't be a issue. But if you frequently make trips of 3/4s or more of a Teslas range then a Tesla isn't really the best choice.
