I'm quite worried. Oh wait. You're asking Flames fans, aren't you?

Miller is a decent goalie when he's on. I think the Flames can expect him to be solid. But I haven't seen him steal a game in years. He won't be the difference in this game IMO. It will be about which team can carry the play, which team sticks to its system (i.e whether the Flames can continue to keep the Sedins from making cross-crease passes) and whether the Flames can continue to get good efforts from every line and expploit the bottom half of the Canuck's defence.
|
Really, they have either been exploiting the entire defense, or I'm not certain who is bottom half and who is top half. The Flames have done a very good job of attacking the Canucks defense, especially in the last two games.

Sure, they have attacked the whole defence but the bottom has suffered more. I have thought Edler, Tanev and Hamhius have done a fairly good defensive job, but Sbisa, Bieksa and Weber have been terrible.

Wiarton Willie has been religious in rolling his pairings. Makes life easy for Hartley.

Yeah a bit, he could very well push this series to 6 or 7 games.

Hmmmm.
I just went through Miller's playoff game log.
· He lost his last four straight starts with St. Louis last year, and wasn't at all good in his last three games.
· In 2011 he lost his last two playoff games with the Sabres holding a 3-2 lead against Philadelphia, allowing nine goals.
· He won two games against Boston in 2010, and was beaten four goals in Game 6. His last series win was in 2007.
You would seem to be right.

I'd venture to guess the Blues, who have had a strong team that underperformed in the POs, thought he wasn't a clutch guy and that's why they let him go.

6 is probable. 7 I doubt it.

I have to admit I'm a little wary. Longterm, I don't the guy has it in him to win 3 in a row, but I think he does have it in him to play lights out tonight, to prove that he's still got it. I can see tonight going one of two ways. He's either lights out, or he flat out sucks. Hope its the latter.

Miller isn't ready for the on ice onslaught he's about to face tonight, and if he manages to make it through to Game 6, he's definitely not going to be ready for the onslaught he's going to face from the C of Red...

I would also add:
2010 Olympic Gold Medal game -- team ties the game in the last minute, lets in a bit of a softie to lose.
2006 game 7 VS. Carolina - Buffalo had a 3-2 lead going into the third, 20 minutes from a trip to an easy final against Edmonton and almost assuredly our first cup.. Lost 4-3 in regulation. (that one stung the most)
He did a lot of good for this franchise but just isn't a winner.

Miller and Baertschi are the last cards the Canucks can play. Sven is a laughable card as he wouldn't be on the Flames current roster of players that includes 5 rookies.
Miller looked pretty good with the Flames protecting the lead in game 4 but the Flames did not have any major chances. A hot goalie can win a game or a series but I find it hard to believe he is going to come back from a big injury at 35 and carry his team to 3 straight wins. I think he is more likely to blow it

Nailed it, haha. Saw that Miller way too many times in big Sabres games too.
