Oh, I was referencing the website sportsclubstats.com: http://www.sportsclubstats.com/NHL.html . If you look at their model and the millions of simulations it runs, it came up with only one scenario that the Stars make the playoffs.

You're not quite reading it right. SCS says there is a 1% chance they make the playoffs.
For example, of the 5.022 billion models run, Dallas goes 9-0-0
3.3 million times.

Truth, basically, if we play out the rest of this season 100 times, they'll make it once.

Which is fine and dandy but that 1% chance takes into account of their entire season, over the last 10 games they are 8-2-0. A pace like that over the next 7-1-1 or so, would put them in at least a decent chance to claim a playoff spot.

They don't need to beat all 3 teams, only Winnipeg and one of Los Angeles or Calgary. If they beat Winnipeg and Los Angeles, for example, but are below Calgary, Calgary gets third in the Pacific and Dallas would claim the Wildcard spot. So what they really need is a Winnipeg collapse, a strong record and probably to beat Calgary in their 2 games they have left. It's unlikely, but it's not impossible.

Like I said, for all intents and purposes their season is done, the chances of them making the playoffs are low. I disagree with you in saying that they know it's done. They will know it's done if they lose tonight. Until then, they're taking it one game at a time and praying.
I totally misinterpreted that sportsclubstats data. Out of 5.2B sims, 57M had the Stars in the playoffs. That's where they get their 1%. Here is the combination of records with the associated count of scenarios where they make the playoffs. For example, if they go 5-3-1, they made the playoffs 170k times out of 5.1B simulations according to the model and they have a .003% chance of making it with that record.

Anyways yeah, there's like a 1 in 100 chance.

Well we shut down Colarados chances of making the playoffs, why not do it again tonight.

Anybody know what's up with Byron? Thought he was ready to go last game. Really would like him back in the line-up.

Ruff said to the media "we have to win out". As a player when you hear that it kinda takes the wind out of your sails. They should be checked out, right? Stars pls.

Going to the game tonight and haven't felt this nervous for a game in years.

It feels.... good....

I will be out of town for the last few home games of the regular season and fully expect to be back at the Saddledome for some Flames hockey mid April-ish.

Go Flames Go!!!

I get regular SN and SN360. What are the odds of me getting to watch the game tonight? None?

Since I didn't get a straight answer I take that as a 'no'. I ask because I have no idea how SN does their broadcasting and have like 9 different channels. I don't know if they are going to cut to the Flames game once the Oilers game is done or anything like that.

Do you have Sportsnet Flames? You should be good if you do.

I'm in camp right now, so if I got anything it'd be SNOilers.
