He seemed like a great guy, and of course Flames fans will remember him for this:
Yep, that's my one biggest memory of him even though I missed seeing the goal because I was meeting Metallica and had to find out from Hetfield who was watching it backstage. They it on the TVs at the Winnipeg Arena and when the fans started chanting "Go Flames Go!" I figured the Flames had won.
Very sad news and not something I wanted to read about when I logged on. Thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family. The entire hockey world will miss you Steve
Patrick Burke @BurkieYCP
"Cluster suicides" are a real phenomenon. The hockey community needs to take time to reach out to those who may need to hear from a friend
This is horrible news. Monty always came across so intelligent and thoughtful in his interviews, I hoped he had a future in coaching. What a loss. Always a Flame.
Pat Burke is right. Cluster suicides, but also there is an increase in fatal accidents in groups who identify themselves as peers with victims of suicudes, murders and accidents. I'd encourage anyone who is finding themselves effected by this to talk with someone, the dark side of our minds is powerful.
