As a PR, you can already face a removal order upon conviction. If you are under a removal order, you can't apply for citizenship. As a PR, you are afforded all the protection of the Charter, something which should not change.

My suggestion does not infringe on the Charter. And your comment that "as a PR" you are afforded the protection of the Charter is also wrong, FYI. Anyone on Canadian soil, visitor or PR or Citizen, is afforded protection under the Charter. It applies to how the gov't treats people, not just citizens and PR's.
I am impressed with how many half-truths and Goodwin's laws you've been able to break in this thread! Well done.

By looking at your own post, my claim that Permanent Residents are afforded the protection of the Charter is correct?

You said " as a PR, they are afforded..." - That is, you argued that the fact that they were a PR is what provided them Charter protection. I was pointing out that this was false, so folks who read your post didn't think that they have to be a citizen or PR to get Charter rights.

I think we can all agree that any refugees, PR, and TFWs that are allowed into the country should be Filipino only.
I have never met a group of people more willing to contribute to society and become part of the community. They don't just intermingle with their own people like some refugee groups do, or never learn English/French. You never heard about a recent slaying done by rival Filipino gangs. They're all thankful to be given the opportunity to get a better life in Canada and always make the best of it.
I'm not one to paint whole groups of people with one brush, but others that come here could learn a lot about good citizenship from them.

Damn rights. I have yet to meet a Philipino who was a bad apple after moving from their home country. However, there was that one guy last year in Capitol Hill who murdered his wife I think.
Most Iraqis I've met in Calgary also keep in line and are thankful to be here.

I think that a lot of immigrants coming from war torn areas take a little time to adjust and become solid citizens. It's not just Somali's, they're just the latest people that have come under discussion.

Not up on my Filipino lately but I can share that 30 years ago my would be brother-in-law was murdered by members of a Filipino gang in Winnipeg, stabbed 13 times by 3 different guys outside a bar.

Just wear soccer shin pads and that should protect you from any future Fillipino gang stabbings.

Haha what?? Don't get me wrong their hard workers, really hard actually but saying something like that is just mind boggling. I'm sure not ALL Filipino's fit your "stereotype" and also not all ethic groups other than Filipinos are always violent etc. I'm not sure if you remember hearing about this but there was a group of Filipinos that started a scam foundation and was walking around the U of C campus and other places I believe asking for donations to this foundation that didn't exist. I'm not saying all of them do this but there is a "good and bad" side of everyone.
