The shots I see are being taken with too much thinking, gotta be more gutsy and instinctual. We'll come back out of this Im not concerned, just gotta settle down and play out game not the other teams'.

We are getting more shots and losing. We aren't playing that badly to be honest....but it's just not good enough. We aren't good enough defensively to only score 1 or 2 goals per game.
We had 5 power plays today and never scored... Not good enough
We had 41 shots last night they had 15 and we lost. Not good enough
Posters on here keep telling each other we are out playing them etc. well guess what guys that doesn't always get you 2 points in this league. Have to have a look like more veteran players like Glencross, Hudler, Stajan etc to get their act together and get some goals. We can't rely on Gaudreu to create every chance for us.

If someone had told me in October that we'd be in a playoff position in mid December I would have laughed. The fact we are is due in large part to the collective effort from this team. Vets get hurt and prospects fill in quite nicely. The players believe they can win every night and it shows in their effort.
The losing streak isn't much of a surprise to most as it was probably expect to happen at some point during the season. It's also not something i'm going to lose any sleep over.
What I loathe is the overly negitive posts we see lately in the PGT's. You'd think that the sky was falling and the season of the Flames was crumbling. No balance in the posting just gloom and doom from the usual suspects.

Agreed here ..... some people complain about the boring veterans coming back (somehow link Colbourne here even though he is young) but I thought he was one of the best forwards the past 2 games..... he's a big part of this team and I think he's going to be a big part of the future the way Monahan, Johnny and Bennett will be. More so then Ferland, Granlund, Jooris etc IMO.
As for the loss.... these are the hardest games to win, the holidays and the dog days of the season, but this is what separates the men from the boys is being just as consistent at the beginning and end of the season as the dog days, and being consistent down to every shift.... we're still young, we're not there yet... the hope is one day we will be, some teams have the talent but never really get there.

Four close losses in row would have been acceptable last year. This year it is not. The Flames are better than that, and I expect more.
I don't want to have to go back to listening about how the Flames try so hard and how each win/loss affects the upcoming draft.

I disagree that they are irrelevant. Whilst it doesn't serve much purpose to laugh at them, they are good for a bit of perspective. We've just lost our 4th in a row despite competing well and being slightly unlucky to lose all 4. The Oilers lost 11 in a row and are on track to make it 14 losses in 15 games. They are 8 years into a rebuild, with 3 1st overall picks and a 3rd overall pick.
We are into year 2 of a rebuild. Year 2. We have made significant progress in the last 18 months. Yes, we've not been fantastic of late and yes the losing stings. But if Edmonton is good for anything, they serve as a reminder of how much further along we are and how much better a place we find ourselves in.

They are irrelevant because the oilers winning or losing doesn't get the Calgary flames 2 points the flames do that. The is no need for oiler talk in our post games like I said earlier in the thread guys that say oh well at least we get to watch the oilers lose. So what we have just watched our team lose 4 in a row what purpose does an oilers loss do us ? Irrelevant

You seem to be quite literally the only person convinced that we didn't outplay those teams. Try looking on those teams' boards and reading their post game threads. There's a whole lot of "Damn, we were lucky to come up with two points in that one", "They outplayed us, but (insert player) saved our asses on that one", "Crap, I thought the Flames were playing over their heads, but we barely survived that one."
It's really not a bunch of rose-colored glasses, fanboys, and homerism. Honestly, those were some of the most painful four games to watch for me. A lot of uncharacteristic mistakes from guys the team really depends on. In spite of that if you take a step back they're still playing some damn good hockey.

Only five times in 31 games have the #Flames lost and also been outshot -- two of them were games 1 and 3. The rebuild could be going worse.

Eric Francis said something on Kerr's show I agreed with. Even if the Flames fall down this season, it's been a success, because we've seen what we have for building blocks and it's pretty good.

The d-zone play in the first half of the first period was just atrocious. Absolutely atrocious.
The good news is that the Flames didn't just pack it in...they fought hard and made a real game of it.
It feels like a repeat of what I said last night...we simply can't have those stretches of awful defensive zone play, if we want to be a legitimate playoff team. If/when we patch up those holes, we are going to be back to our winning ways.

When the Flames were winning...Hartley should be coach of the year, Giordano the Norris, Brodie an all star, Wideman should be considered Norris candidate, yaddy-yadda...
Flames started losing... Hartley suck as a coach, Gio, Brodie, Wideman, Russell are bums, Hudler is a crap.. yaddy-yadda..
Wow!! At the start of the season, a lot of people here pretty much says the Flames game will go down and they will fight for Connor McDavid's sweepstakes. Last season was a fluke and so on. To everyone's surprise, Flames played very well in October and November and everyone including those people who predicted they will have a crappy team keeps telling everyone how they love this team and so on. When the team started struggling and started losing people started blaming whatever they can blame ie: injured veteran players coming back in the lineup messed up the lineup, goalies giving up way too many goals, defense playing crappy or the sad part, it is all Hartley's coaching.
I am not going to claim I am one of the best diehard Flames fan but I admit I love this team, win or lose. I watch the game and I don't look for some negative on one player and just ignore the good things he did just to make a point. Like everyone here, I do have my favorite player in this team and I have the least favorite but when I watch the game, I watch the Flames as a team and not individual. I always think this team is one of my exciting Flames team I ever since the 90s. They might not be as talented as Pittsburgh, Chicago, LA and yes even the Canucks but this team is resilient, exciting and does not know the word 'giving up'. Flames are in a 4-games losing streak and may lose their 5 straight games next but I still believe they'll go back in their winning ways.
Chill!! Season is not even half way.

I'm actually expecting them to lose their 5th in a row then turn it around. So if they beat the Hawks it's just gravy.
4 game losing streak and this team is still 17-12. Not bad.
