I think Ramo was already announced as the starter tomorrow, right? Hopefully either goalie can steal a game for us coming up, or at least eliminate the soft goals.

The power play could have been a real difference maker tonight too. Anaheim was really aggressive and effective killing penalties, so credit to them where credit is due.

Baertschi had several shifts in the third with Monahan and Ferland/Gaudreau.

When your goalie lets in a weak goal against one of the league's best teams and in their barn, the chances of winning dramatically go down.

At least the Flames are in every game they play. If they continue, then they give themselves a good shot at the playoffs. Off to San Jose for another tough test.

Regarding the kick, I dunno. Everything, when shown in slow- motion replay, looks a lot more intentional than it probably was. I thought he was just getting positioned in front of the goal, and the puck went off his skate while he was in motion.

He played a bit. Frankly, while he had a decent shift or two, I didn't think he was that dangerous, compared to Monahan, Hudler, Gaudreau, Granlund, Ferland. I thought some posters were exaggerating decent, but not spectacular, plays. The expectations are becoming pretty low for Sven and I think he's now being praised for stuff like getting an ordinary shot on net or throwing a hit down low - something you'd see on a regular shift by Jooris or Byron. And at the end, with the extra man you need the net front guys - Glencross, for example.

Great game by Baertschi.

Not Jooris' best game.

was a kick for sure, doesn't look intentional, but a kick
kind of hard to get a stick on it when the defender has his wrapped around your hands !

Engelland needs to just wrap up his man on the boards for 4 seconds and prevent that chance. Take a penalty if you have to !
Missed first period fight between Kesler and Russel must watch replay of rat getting punched in face !
No quit in this team thought they played well throughout 2nd & 3rd.
Bob is bringing Sven along nicely you can see his confidence/play going up game to game.
Ferland looks great! him and Poirer together with say Bennett makes me drool.

I disagree. He had a point blank shot to tie it and set up Brodie with the shot that hit the post on one shift.

How can he really get an momentum built up when he's scared to death that if he's one percent ineffective he might not see the ice again til January?

I liked Ferland's game. Quick and confident with the puck, smart decisions, and he's one of our bigger guys. Looking like he's going to make a difference.

I highly doubt there's any more risk of getting injured from kicking the puck into the net than there is falling ass over tea kettle and getting an errant skate.

Plus, it's not easy to kick with skates on anyway...lol...

100% agree.

But they do anyways. There are lots of players kick-passing the puck to teammates around the crease if their sticks are tied up. Also at a goal mouth scrum there are tonnes of players falling or getting knocked to the ice with skate blades flying around.

If that's the case, there should be a penalty if anyone's skates ever leave the ice higher than a few inches. Ask Richard Zednik. Seriously, there have been 2 major skate blade cuts in almost century. The risks are astronomically low.

If kicking was allowed, it's not like all the players would forget they have sticks in their hands. They would only attempt kicking when tied up or the puck was in their skates. Players would still attempt to put it in with their sticks 99.9% of the time.

I really like Ferland but he has had several glorious chances in the last few games and he can't hit the net. Probably just trying too hard but he needs to bear down.

That was Monahan (Ball said Baertschi). And it wasn't to tie it. Unless you are telling me he was out with the net empty.

I don't think it was him that set up Brodie either. But I could be wrong about that. Assuming I'm wrong, again - a nice pass. But let's not get carried away about his overall game. I thought it was good. He was way better defensively than I've seen him before. He was more engaged down low. He had one pretty good behind the net sequence in the second. But lots of guys were better and have shown they are clutch. Hartley wants to win. He plays the guys he thinks can do it.

The Honda Center played well tonight. Give it credit where credit is due. The Flames fell behind early to it, and an arena like that is going to be hard to come from behind on.

You can see how great our confidence was once we get our first goal. It gets us fired up, we are a different team. I think this team could definitely play a lot better in the first 40 minutes of the game.

By getting better, Hartley's not holding him back. If Sven gets sent down it's because he's not good enough yet and not because he never got the right looks. It's easy for the coaching staff to assess where each player stands, if Baertschi needs to be sent down he will be. If he's 4th best on LW he'll stay, if not he'll go.

I don't like that Hiller didn't hold himself accountable for his mediocre play. He kept saying the team was getting outworked and pretty much putting the blame on everyone but himself. Sure he stole us a few games but gotta be a better team player during interviews. Reminds me of Joey Mac throwing the team under the bus after a loss.
