If I had a guess, Hartley might be giving Setoguchi a chance to justify staying over one of the kids once bodies start to get healthy. So far, Devin is not taking advantage.

Giordano - 13 GP, 11 PTS
Brodie - 13 GP, 12 PTS

I had doubts about Brodie being a potential #1 d-man -- I thought he would be more of a #2 -- but Brodie is a potential #1 d-man, if not one already. Those fourth round picks are money for the Flames.

Hard to believe the Habs are the top team in the east. In two games against the Flames they have been totally dominated. The east seems to be getting worse every year as even the Oilers beat up on eastern teams.

I like what Hartley has done so far this year, but I agree, some of his PP lines have been very odd this year.

They added an assist to Brodie for Giordano's EN goal

Gives Brodie a 3 point night.

HFboards is a fun read right now. Three Flames threads on the main forum (Jooris and Gaudreau are awesome enough to deserve their own) and this gem from the Oilers board

Quote:
The more I think about it, the less the Flames success bothers me.

As I told my dad, it's a benchmark for where the Oilers could be if they actually followed a due process instead of promoting cronyism, slotting rookies into important positions, and just plain being a mess.

So keep going, Flames. Show up this pitiful organization. They completely deserve it.
When that place starts getting on the Calgary hype train you know they might actually be for real

Impressed with Granlund as well. Dude plays like a 10 year vet. Smart player.

Only reason to put Setoguchi on PP I can think of at this point is desperately trying to find trade value.

Liked how every now and then tonight there would be a shot of Hartley giving his kids a pat on the back after a good shift.

Hoping that comes for Sven soon.

They are giving him lot of opportunities to show he belongs. This road trip should be his last...

He gives himself so little credit. Has one of the few who have been players on panels that is not a fricken homer.

I just hope they play this well all year. I would hate for all this great play to go to waste like the Wild did a dew years ago.

And he doesn't even get an assist on the Granlund goal, even though he made the whole thing happen with his defensive play followed by a great stretch pass to Gaudreau on the backhand.

Fair enough!

I just thought he was great tonight. He controlled the puck well, had two well-earned assists and should have had a third. He created offense all night long.

Hopefully this becomes an "average" night for him!
